The OP still hasn't said if the member of staff was challenged at the time. I'm sure if it had happened to me I would have said something like "excuse me, I wanted to purchase those" or "excuse me, is there something wrong with those cakes only I'd like to buy them please?"0

You are hilarious.
What was your previous user name, btw?
Or should I guess?0 -

I'd be fuming too if a shop worker was so rude to me - give the OP a break. If the situation was based in a garage or bank, most of the critics would be baying for the employee's blood IMO.
erm if it happened to me i probably wouldnt do anything as id realise that it wasnt worth it.0 -

right or wrong it happens everywhere.
i worked in retail for close to a decade, and i know every shop would let their staff have the sale stuff first

I'm surprised the member of staff did not just take the item behind the scenes before reducing it in full view of the customers.Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0

Just a quick point, but up to now the OP has never actually confirmed to anyone (despite numerous times of asking) that they TOLD the worker they wanted the cakes?? They can drop as many hints as they like ie:I jokily commented along the lines that I got there at the right moment. If you had been there, it's not something easy to put into words, you would know that she knew I wanted them
........ but if the worker didn't take the hints, for whatever reason, and the OP didn't ask why they were being removed either, then i'm sorry, but the worker hasn't ACTUALLY done a lot wrong.......... unless of course she is one of few well known and certified mind readers...?:rolleyes:0
