Never again will wandering the supermarket be the same for me,i am like most people an avid bargain hunter,i will hunt like indiana jones for the yellow stickers of reduction, only to be stopped in my tracks by an employee ferreting away the bargains for his/her own self gratification.

    Now i could

    A. Go charging to a manager or supervisor all red faced with anger and report this action in the vain hope that they will tear strips off of said employee for there stealth moves.....Or

    B. i could just carry on with my shopping and leave the Mr Kipling until next week.

    Choices,choices.

    A or B..A or B...A or B

    Hmmm!

This is really rather difficult! well after i have given it a lot of thought it will have to be (Drum roll please........)

    B

    I thankyou....:T

Maybe the staff member saw that the cakes were out of date and removed them so the store wouldn't be fined for selling out of date goods or maybe there was a product recall on them.Maybe next time it would be a good idea to ask.I'm sure she would have been happy to tell you

I'm sure this could have and would have been better sorted out there and then at the time by having a quiet word with the Assistant or the Manager...why such a high drama over a box of cakes. I really don't get it at all.

my OH works for morrisons, and yes they do sort of do this as a perk. As a family of 5 its great :=) We get bread and someyimes meat, sorry but no cream cakes lol.

My worries are the the OP has possibly caused a right 2 and 8 for that store. They only have to look at the rotas for that day and work out which nice lady was on shift when the CREAM CAKE sarga started. If i was her i would tell a little porkie that they were damaged or opened in some way.

Have to say all this over a cream cake and they wonder why war starts!!!!! History in the making.

I think the point has been missed completely by the majority of those on here trying to redicule Tribulation.

The point is, whether it was a £700 telly or 79p box of cakes, the member of staff acted unprofessionaly. They should have marked it down and hoped that Tribulation never bought it, but given him first option, as the customer, to buy it.

The customer has first option, afterall, you are providing a service and they are paying your salary. It is a real shame when members of staff of a retailer nab goods away from the customer, be it 79p or £79. Obviously there is a lack of customer service training.

At last - a very sensible comment!

But nobody, not even the OP, knows for sure why the employee took the cakes of display, there is every posibility that when she went to reduce them they had the day before's date on them, but as the OP didn't actually communicate with her, other than in non-specific hints, he could be accusing a completely innocent employee.

    Snowmaid.

I know im only reacting to this thread because i think it is as funny as you like,in fact its the best thread i have ever seen on here which is not many considering im new.

But the part that really got me to react in such a way was the suggestion that this person should have been sacked on the spot for this henious crime, totally ridiculous.

All of us unless you are stinking rich are having to search and scrape for every bargain out there, incuding employees.

I can't believe some of the replies on here! Sounds as if they left open the gates of kindergarten! Tribulation's OP went straight over their heads and all they saw was him moaning about 79p cakes and not what the actual concern is! Unbelievable!
