But nobody, not even the OP, knows for sure why the employee took the cakes of display, there is every posibility that when she went to reduce them they had the day before's date on them, but as the OP didn't actually communicate with her, other than in non-specific hints, he could be accusing a completely innocent employee.

Then the employee should have politely explained it to the customer. If the incident happened as Tribulation says, then the employee acted unprofessionaly. And it wasn't for the OP to communicate with her, the employee should have communicated her actions to the OP.

I think the point has been missed completely by the majority of those on here trying to redicule Tribulation.

The point is, whether it was a £700 telly or 79p box of cakes, the member of staff acted unprofessionaly. They should have marked it down and hoped that Tribulation never bought it, but given him first option, as the customer, to buy it.

The customer has first option, afterall, you are providing a service and they are paying your salary. It is a real shame when members of staff of a retailer nab goods away from the customer, be it 79p or £79. Obviously there is a lack of customer service training.

Given the evidence as presented by Tribulation we have absolutely no proof that the assistant removed the cakes to buy them...what we have seen is guesswork presented as facts.

I know im only reacting to this thread because i think it is as funny as you like,in fact its the best thread i have ever seen on here which is not many considering im new.

But the part that really got me to react in such a way was the suggestion that this person should have been sacked on the spot for this henious crime, totally ridiculous.

All of us unless you are stinking rich are having to search and scrape for every bargain out there, incuding employees.

Then as an employee of a company, I mark the goods down and give the customer first choice, and if I loose tough, that goes with the territory of being staff. If, however, once the customers are gone and it is still there, I count my lucky stars and enjoy my cake!

Everything on here is guesswork, even to the assumption of one poster saying that perhaps Tribulation 'appeared' not to need the cakes. Where did that come from? Everyone on here has made assumptions. The only one present was Tribulation and you have all decided to rip him apart, making your own assumptions.

unless the OP had his hands on the cream scones how on earth is the baker member of staff meant to know that he wanted them?

And no it wasn't about whether the staff should have offered them to the OP as he pointed out that he took umbridge with the fact that a member of staff had requested that if a particular game got discounted to save it for him. His moan was about the practice within Morrisons (and most businesses!)

It is quite simply a pointless complaint and hopefully will be dealt with in the matter it deserves

Why???? How was she supposed to know that he was waiting to pick up that box of cakes. Again, he didn't actually tell her he wanted them.

Which explains why customer service in general is going to pot and is non existent in most cases. Because members of staff are more interested in gaining for themselves, rather than offering a service and doing their job. Of course, there are the exceptions which I have experienced.

lol reminds me of Martin Brice from Ever Decreasing Circles - just the sort of thing he'd do!
I know it's annoying when u miss out on a bargain but i don't understand why you didn't just approach the worker and ask her why she had removed the cakes as you wanted to buy them? There may have been another reason other than she wanted them herself! I really feel sorry for the worker, even if she did do it because you were annoying she could get a warning, and we all do daft things sometimes. Maybe in a few wks you can sit down with a cup of coffee and a morrisons cake and read what you've written and see that its not the end of the world!

And you yourself are just as guilty, you are assuming that the employee knew OP wanted the cakes, but the OP himself admits he didn't tell her.
