Once again, customer service training required. If I see a customer hovering in front of the goods, I would ask if there is anything in particular they want and state whether it is going to be marked down. Make them feel special, a little wink and smile, 'Sir, I will mark these down for you, enjoy!'. Even if they know they were going to be marked down anyway. They have offered good customer service.0 -
Which explains why customer service in general is going to pot and is non existent in most cases. Because members of staff are more interested in gaining for themselves, rather than offering a service and doing their job. Of course, there are the exceptions which I have experienced.
I think to be honest customer service in this country is improving day by day due to the current situation and there is nothing wrong with the service provided unless the OP had made it clear that he wanted those cakes, also making it clear is not just standing near the cake stand where there can be more than one type!Always ask ACAS0 -

Not once have I said I am not assuming. As I stated, we all are.0 -
snowmaid, your that far onto our own rant that the customer is king you need to step away from the keyboard, have a brew, and then read the posts again.

.
We were allowed to take items off the shelf at the reduced price AFTER the customers had had a chance to take them. There is no way a working member of staff would have been allowed to lift an item from the shelf to mark down and take in the back for themselves. It would have been a disciplinary matter. I used to take reduced food home, but it HAD to be displayed for customers first.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Everything on here is guesswork, even to the assumption of one poster saying that perhaps Tribulation 'appeared' not to need the cakes. Where did that come from? Everyone on here has made assumptions. The only one present was Tribulation and you have all decided to rip him apart, making your own assumptions.
'Everyone' on here has made assumptions? I for one haven't, so you are wrong. I repeat we have no conclusive proof that the assistant removed the cakes for personal gain.0 -
