i posted the pic, because i saw it and thought of the op. i didn't call them a retard. pedantic i know, but what the hell, its the style of the board.
and earlier you were beginning to look like an idiot, and congratulations you have now succeeded
I'd rather be thought of as an idiot than an obnoxious immature forum bully0 -
I love the fact that after so much questioning etc the OP decided to come back on and give a load more detail about the situation. After reading the more detailed explanation of the incident it seems totally obvious that the member of staff didn't buy the cakes as it was a Sunday. That means that come the end of their shift there wouldn't have been time to buy them as by law the times of sales are very strictly regulated. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

I worked in retail for years and whilst on the whole I enjoyed it, can I clear up a few things that really irked me about the general public and their attitudes:
1. In large stores, 99% of the time unless it's a special event store staff CANNOT buy anything after the stores normal closing times or before opening. This is due to store policy and the fact the managers want to get home when the store closes.
2. MOST general store staff are not authorised to give refunds or to exchange goods. If you want a refund quickly and effectively I suggest you go directly to customer services or to a manager.
3. If it is a large/ chain store, please don't go up to general store staff and ask them about discounts/ money off for things like buying in bulk. We have absolutely no control over 99% of the prices in the store they are set by head management and in most cases even the store manager only has a 10% discretion.
4. If there is something not on the shelf, chances are it's not actually in stock. Out of the hundreds of times I went to the stockroom to check stock that wasn't on the shelves, maybe only 5% of the time was the item actually in stock.
5. Don't moan at store staff about prices or items being out of stock. Take it up with head management or the store manager. We have ZERO control over things like this. I had numerous people moan moan moan at me about the empty "display" DVD cases being on the shelf when the item was not in stock, not my fault, I work here on Saturdays for £5 an hour, to be brutally honest I am not that bothered that you have to go another few days without your Strictly Come Dancing DVD.
6. Not really a problem anymore, BUT DON'T PAY BY FCUKING CHEQUE.
7. If it's things like advice on a product (within reason, we don't know the intricacies of every product inside out, like what ingredients are in them, as some people seem to assume?!), or finding a product then we will be of great help.0 -

You're right - we don't always know the entire picture, but what we can do is read the entire post before commenting
I read the whole post, but I've been on this board too long and often read "can't be bothered" as shorthand for "well as I haven't seen results myself they obviously haven't tried".0 -

Fair enough - understand that myself, it does seem to happen here, I agree
No issue at all with those who make the effort - or, if truth be told, with those who don't like their job but accept it - it's those who loudly proclaim how "sick of this" they are, or whatever, but would rather sit on their backside of an evening and watch Coronation Street instead of spending half an hour looking for something better.......0 -
I thought the only time a customer come first was with a lady of easy virtue.0

I don't think the OP was buying tarts.0
