Morrisons staff putting things aside.

Actually, I was being polite and in effect was saying your customer service is up the pole!
As a 'customer', I, like others, have been fortunate to experience excellent customer service and therefore am qualified to know what level of service one can/should expect.
There are fantastic people out there who go out of their way to accommodate the 'customer'. As a 'customer', this makes me want to visit the store more frequently and such service actually makes me more friendlier and tolerant, so if there is a hiccup in service, I am prepared to not make a big thing about it, because I know this is out of the ordinary and know that tomorrow the excellent customer service will be experienced.
As someone who worked in the retail industry and sales, including part time in stores, I have been trained in customer service and know that the type of experience the OP had would never have been tolerated and we would have been out on our butts had we acted in such a manner.
The staff member has done nothing wrong as far as any of us are aware. The OP put the product back on the shelves, made banter and told his wife that he was going to buy a pack of 4 cakes. Now how on earth is any of that telling the staff member that he was buying them?It isn't,therefore she was not rude and done nothing wrong.Infact,if you read his lastfull explanation you will see his own wife was wondering what on earth he was doing!!!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Due to the vast number of people who think this practise is perfectly acceptable including a member of Morrisons own staff, rather than the very vague 500 letter max response form I filled in on Morrisons contact page, I have now decided to write to head office detailing exactly what went on, I have copied parts of this thread into it to show them what people who work in supermarkets think is acceptable behaviour, and ask them to address the problem urgently.
good bye
Again, like i have stated to you already, and like you have stated to everyone else........... PLEASE READ WHAT WAS WRITTEN!!
I said that yes, technically it was wrong!!! I never stated it was acceptable, I stated that it happens........... there is a difference.
And while i'm at it................ i'm ex-staff, something else you clearly missed?!!
And as for copying parts of the thread into your letter of complaint, you're not really doing a lot to shake off the "petty" tag you have been labelled with are you?!:p0 -
There is something that is very interesting about this thread,it makes me just keep coming back to it time after time.
Im in a wee bit of a pickle here because i like shopping at Morrisons,i feel that i may have given the OP a little bit of a hard time and i hope he accepted my words earlier as they were meant, and i also like cake.
However never again will i ever go to the cake section in a Morrisons store and not have a sneaky chuckle to myself at this thread, obviously there will be some people there who will think that i am totally barmy......I will just have this image in my head of people peering around the bottom of the aisle's waiting for that wee fella or lady with that highly sort after little gun of glory.
I love this thread and i now thank ole Tribulation for bringing it up,and hand on heart i want him back on these here boards.
:rotfl::rotfl:I like you!(not in THAT way!) :rotfl:
You are 'big' enough to apologise and I sense in your post you meant it. Good on you! It's refreshing! :T
But have to agree about the marked down goods! I will be giggling too!0 -

I think that would depend on who is doing the labelling....so far nothing I see he has to worry about! :cool:0 -

 The staff member, from what Tribulation has said, was obviously having a bad day, new full well why Tribulation was hovering and knew he wanted the cakes reduced, but because she was in a crappy mood, decided that he wasn't going to have the goods! Not on her watch!0 -

About 80% of the posters have done the labelling. I just don't agree with him pointing me out specifically, when, from what i've read back of my posts, I have been fair, not resorted to name calling and agreed with the OP in points that I think are valid (albeit few and far between). They posted on here to get opinions, as you do, and that is what they got?!

Right, I think we should nominate this thread for the "Thread of the Month" award. Then the OP would get £50 if he won, which would buy him quite a few boxes of cakes I would think, and this epic thread would be brought to the attention of many more MSE-ers, yup?Val.0
