Many many thanks for all the birthday wishes on Saturday, I had a great night out, and can advise anyone that if you are planning on walking in snow then stiletto boots are just the thing, they act like mini pick axes lol! xx

Well my boys' school is closed today. A bit strange as they were open last Thurs and Fri and all the other schools in Worcester sem to be open. I'm getting a bit fed up with ds2 who thinks I should be making pizzas for all his mates. I did rashly offer to do this last Thurs if school was shut. I don't feel like hoards of teenage boys today tbh, still got a cold and was hoping for a quiet day to myself:rolleyes:

I've cried off dd's swimming lesson and my French lesson this evening as I hate driving in the snow. I particularly don't want to be doing it in the dark. So no need to get a meal prepared this afternoon.

    Breakfast was pancakes.

Lunch for me and boys will be leftover veggie cottage pie from the freezer. Dd and OH have ham sandwiches, flapjacks and fruit.

Supper will be spaghetti with bacon and mushroom sauce.

I have flapjacks baking and I may bake some rolls later.

    Condolences to Sunnygirl.

Still eating the porridge, think I should get a medal for perseverance!!! its not too bad, as long as it has not got lumps in. My grand mother used to make porridge in a double pan called a porringer......wonder if you can still get them???.

One of cup of cheap oats, 2.5 cups(these are tea cups or small mugs) of milk (we used skimmed), throw in large mixing bowl with a quick stir, 8 mins on high in mwave (800w ish) (10 if you like it thick), quick stir half way through if near mw and remember:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. Doesn't come out lumpy. Add golden syrup and stir, top with a little cream. The latter doesn't make the healthy or help the diet, but sure tastes good.:o:o:o

    Good morning guys,

+1 and very grey today. It must have been warmer last night as all the ice is gone but we have had the lightest dusting of snow just now.

DS1's mini laptop has arrived and it is mini! still he should be less likely to drop it and it looks a lot sturdier than my old one that was wrecked. Just trying to get a internet connection now. OK, 20 mins later it can't find an IP address - one for the techie board later I think.

Plans today - finish drying the washing, iron it - hopefully :D -, a clean through and prep a curry for tea. Then I will crack on with the pennies book and go through my lists for this year.

Sunnygirl - hugs to you and your family. Thinking of you. xxx

Hugs to anyone else in need today and keep warm and safe everyone.

    Smoky. xxx

Penelope Penguin don't take this the wrong way but that is the creepiest looking snowman I've ever seen, he looks like he's about start walking towards me in a scary Dr Who alien fashion!!:o:rotfl:

That's what mkes him so good :T I could see him from the kitchen window, and really thought he was going to start Scottish Dancing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: He's lost his lower jaw, now (but still has my scarf on ;) ) so looks a bit creepy

So nice to see so many of you taking up Crochet, I can recall sitting in the food hall at Meadowhell, with a certain BG crocheting. She was learning and I was there to help if I could, but I think with the help of YouTube and "The Happy Hooker" she had mastered it already. Certainly the rest of the group had no problems working out who the unknown OSer were, and I see she is still crocheting.

I could do Granny Squares, but it's taken me a while to do rows ;) I'll post a pic of my scarf later, once I find what DD has done with my camera

  • Sunnygirl - she is at peace now, thoughts are with your family :sad:l

We had a little snow early this morning, which then turned to sleet - roads turned to slippy slush......then chaos!! Left to take older DDs to train for school but got to the end of our quiet country road to find a queue of traffic  A van was sliding in the slush and more or less blocking the road!

Decided to give up and return home, so I'm now waiting until lunchtime when I will attempt to drive to work again!
