  • I know this thread is old but is worth a try. I ordered a Dslr lens from them based solely on the price, almost 300 quid less then amazon but im starting to worry.

The order has moved from the outstanding order tab to the order history tab. I have no clue on how to get a parcel tracking number off them. Phone lines are dead and I try to email them though the Contact us Tab and when I attempt to send it I get a dozen error messages. Nor did I receive an order confirmation email. The money has been taken form my account.

The order just says "Shipped Your order was picked up by our couirier and will be with you soon" its been like that for about a week. Does this company straight up rip you off and not deliver the product or does it just take an eternity to get here from Hong Kong?

You must form your own opinion.

But just reading the last dozen or so posts on this thread, it seems that most people do actually get the goods they ordered.

Some have to wait a long while for their purchase and others appear to have warranty problems.

Of course, you must also remember that people who have no problems with a company tend not to write a review. This means that you are likely to read more negative reviews than positive about any company.

If I were considering a purchase from them, I would probably avoid them, but one thing is certain, I would be reading much more about the company than you appear to have done. ;)

I ordered a Sony Xperia Z3 through Simply Electronics, but they are incapable of even dispatching the goods. In the end I had to cancel the order as after almost 1 month of waiting, they could still not give me any information as to when the phone would be dispatched. This has been the worst online purchase experience I have ever had, and no-one at Simply Electronics seems to care or wants to sort the situation out.

    Ordering through Simply Electronics has been a BIG mistake, as my order had progressed (or not progressed!) as follows;

16/7/15 I order and pay for a Sony Xperia Z3 in Copper colour that is listed as being in stock.
23/7/15 I am informed that the product is not in stock, and I am offered an alternative colour for no extra charge (as it is listed for the same price as the original order.....very generous!).
23/7/15 I accept the alternative color offered.
26/7/15 I am informed that as the price has increased I now have to pay the difference in the price increase that took place since my original order (what happened to the alternative colour at NO extra cost?!). I have no choice but to reluctantly accept the additional charge.
6/8/15 I receive an email from Simply Electronics informing me that they are AGAIN out of stock (why offer me the alternative colour if they can't fulfil the order?), and offering me phone in white. I have now lost any confidence in this incompetent company, and have asked for a immediate refund so that I can purchase from a reputable retailer.....lets see how they get on refunding, I bet it is not as quick as they took the payment! I will update.
UPDATE 14/8/15. I am still waiting for my refund of over £300.00......their site says that it will be processed "soon". They are just as incompetent at refunding, as they are at dispatching orders.
UPDATE 15/8/15. Despite me chasing them again for a refund, their site now says "Your refund will be attended to at the soonest available opportunity".......don't rush yourselfs!
UPDATE 17/8/15. Still no refund! Their site now says "We are working closely with our payment gateway to expedite your refund". This company is a real shower of s**t!
UPDATE 18/8/15. Would you believe it....still no refund! Called there customer non-service department, who are unable to let you speak to a manager as "they are unavailable" (they never have been available). They cannot put you through to accounts, as they don't have a telephone! and customer services cannot call you back, as they cannot make outgoing calls! They now say that the refund will be processed this week.....bet you that it does not, and I have to chase for it gain!

During my dealings with them, no-one ever returns calls, and no-one in senior management is ever available to speak with.

Do yourself a favour, don't be lured in with their cheap prices, and purchase elsewhere....it will be a lot less stressful, and you may actually get your goods.
  • I used Simply Electronics for a number of years and made a number of large purchases. My last experience means I will never use them again but would also check where a company is based. 5 weeks with over 60 emails, 20 to 30 telephone calls, refusal to pass on information, shocking customer service and absolute no urgency to deal with any issue. The telephone number which is a general customer number is a Hong Kong based number and office so that is where you are calling. This company is fine if you do not have a fault with a product or have an issue with what you have been sent. PayPal were excellent and I would use them again if purchasing online.
I do warn all photographers especially those on a limited budget and on the look for a bargain, I would never, NEVER use this company again. The budget items are great until something goes wrong and then the cost, aggravation and lack of communication causes so much grief. Be Warned !!!!

Even if you get the goods you ordered, I wouldn't risk it because of the lack of a manufacturer's warranty. I would expect the "seller's warranty" to be worthless. There are reputable grey importers (if that's not a contradiction!) but they usually provide a third party (insurance based) warranty.
  • Hi all --- this company are causing us so much grief. My girlfriend bought a Canon SX60 from them just before Christmas 2014. There was something wrong with the focussing so we sent it back and that's when we discovered they are not a UK company, neither is the Canon for the UK market, which means the Warranty is invalid in the UK. The camera was sent back to ........???? and weeks later we got it back.
It has now suffered lens and camera errors and I am attempting to return it for a refund. This has taken many many weeks of confusing messages, phone calls and wasted time. Meanwhile I cannot use the camera.
I wish to seek legal advice about these guys, they DO NOT respond to my requests, they delay and confuse the issue constantly and they ARE NOT selling goods for the UK

Be warned!!!! I will keep this up to date, I received documents to give to a courier, but no idea when or what will happen after that!!!

    Terrible company.

I'm sure any legal advice you get needs to be Chinese or Hong Kong legal advice. As would any court action need to be taken over there.

Suggest you put it down to experience and not chuck good money after bad.

  • These people don't over advertise the fact that it's not a UK product and we get stuck with the aftermath
  • I purchased a Nokia Lumia Mobile Phone in December last year, from these People, it Broke down, within a few months, freezing up, would not charge, it was returned, after 3 weeks it was sent back, the phone was originally designed for Saudi Arabia Market, not the UK, now we are having more problems with it, the Charging Port has Broken, I again emailed them, after weeks of waiting, I got a reply, they asked me several tines over a matter of weeks, what the problems were, finally I got a returns Number, they sent me DHL Labels, Customs Sheets, and Battery Carriage Information, I downloaded them, Printed Them, Packed it all up, I got a Call from DHL on Wednesday 2nd September, asking me if they could pick it up on Thursday the 3rd September, between 9 and 5, great I thought, come 6pm, Nothing, Package Still Here, I telephoned DHL, who then Informed myself the Collection had been cancelled by Simply Eectronics, I cant get over this...... I will never have anything to do with them again, and I advise all to stay well away.
