I bought a memory card from Simply Electronics for £28.00 and paid by credit card. It doesn't fit the camera I ordered with it so I wish to return it. Simply Electronics will deduct a £25.00 restocking fee! Surely this is illegal? Will my credit card company help?

Possibly illegal in the UK but you bought from China, where presumably they can make up the rules as they go along. Dont bother, as I guess recorded postage will wipe out the rest of the value. Ebay it.

No mention of re-stocking fee here?

Simply Electronics has built up a strong reputation with its customers for providing good after-sales service and support. One reason for this is our rigorous focus on returns.

As we understand that not all purchases go perfectly to plan, we have created a 30 day money back guarantee that reflects the needs of our customers; after all we want you to come back and purchase with us time and time again!

If for any reason you are not happy with any products bought from us and wish to return them, simply return the products and we will give you a refund, exchange, or replacement, whichever you prefer, as long as you meet the following conditions:
Items are returned within the 30 day cooling off period
Items are in brand new condition with all original packaging
Items are accompanied by a Returns Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) Form

Please note that when returning an item it is your responsibility to get the item to us in good condition, and we will not be able to refund postage charges, unless of course the products arrive faulty or in error - then WE will cover the postage costs.

If you are an existing customer and would like to return an item, please contact us at rma@simplyelectronics.net to receive an RMA form and any further helpful information you require.

Which now begs the question, are they allowed to charge the restocking fee even though their terms and conditions make no provision for a restocking fee. You could try that on them.

  • They have now said they won't charge the re-stocking fee.
  • This company is not based in the UK, Although they have made every attempt to look like they are. They have even registered a residential address which directs you to a Flat. Their registered address is merely a hughstreet PO Box holding company that takes mail for many companies. Legally its pointless contacting trading standards to complain about this company as they are based in China. Their prescribed delivery times and not true. TRUST PILOT has a lot of complaints about this company. Goods that do arrive can take between 3 and 6 weeks to arrive, not dispatched the next working day from the UK as they say. Advice to anyone would be to avoid the tempting carrot of these Grey Goods. If you item becomes or is delivered faulty then historically returns are a nightmare and they really put people to test in receiving goods. If anyone has any issue with this company your only safeguard is getting a 'Draw Back' from VISA or MasterCard but be aware to the advice on the above message to.
