.....and 20% VAT of course.
Hi Froggit
My camera came today. No custom charge or VAT applied. Delivered By DPD who are a good courier.
All the documentation is in English and the camera default settings are in English too.
It was ordered on the 1st of November so it's taken exactly 2 weeks which is good.
I have made a saving of £400 plus on UK high street prices.
I will register the camera online with canon to activate the warranty.0 -
I will register the camera online with canon to activate the warranty.
How are you going to do that? Canon warranties are only on locally sourced items. When tourists need a repair, they have to pay even if the camera was bought from the official importer in their own country!
I bought a grey import from another seller. It was obvious where it was sourced from - the model number on the box was "D610 (HK)"... It came with a 3rd party warranty (i.e. an insurance based extended warranty).0 -
I would like to add to all the negatives on this company and say I ordered a Nexus 9 32 gb a £100 cheaper than any where else on the 22nd November and it arrived within 2 weeks. You cant get the 32gb easily in the UK.
I originally phoned the credit card company about this company and they said they do not have any security issues on their records about Simply Electronics. So i then phoned the company and asked if the goods came from UK they said yes. So I went ahead and ordered and got the usual emails thanking for the order etc etc.
In the mean time I sent an email to their customer service about all the negatives on MoneySaving site and they said they were aware of it. They also confirmed that the goods do come from UK even though I stated to them I have prove they do not, as mine was picked up from Amsterdam via their courier. They still believe they come from the UK or are adamant should I say. Since then I have not heard back again.
So my only gripe is they do not tell the truth about where the goods come from.
Other than the blatant lie of where the goods come from I cannot rate them highly enough for the same goods but cheaper price and excellent delivery.:):T0 -

Make that plural - LIES. I ordered a tablet two weeks ago. The website indicated 25 in stock, so I went ahead as the price was the same as Currys - P C World, but that company had no stock. I received an email from Skrill advising Simply Electronics had charged my CC, but no communication came from them. Having heard nothing after 10 days (bearing in mind dispatch was indicated as 2 - 3 days and delivery 7 - 14 days), I used their internal email system to request the status of the order. No reply. Then the order number disappeared from my order records, so I emailed to ask why. No reply. I then resorted to the phone and they insisted they had sent me an email advising the tablet was out of stock. After three calls they eventually asked whether I wanted to cancel the order to which I said I did. I confirmed by their email system and requested confirmation to two of my email addresses. So far no response. Somehow I have a feeling that I will be consulting my CC company. Incidentally, the website showed stock of the item I had ordered at 24 units when I cancelled. Make of that what you will.0 -

I bought some Shure earphones which came on time and seemed legit (I'd had he model before) but did become faulty quite quickly. I wrote requesting whether I was still under their repair warranty and was so decided to return the earphones instead of taking up Shure's own 2 year guarantee.
Big mistake. The repair should have taken 3 weeks from receipt of my goods. This was tracked and they arrived over 2 months ago back with SE. Repeated emails as to where my replacements are indicate they are still "under repair". All responses are basically boilerplate responses. Still not received my repaired earphones.
Direct dialling of customer service puts you through to a Phillippino call centre. No number forthcoming for direct communication with repair office.
All in all probably not worth the £20 saving. Would NOT recommend using at all.0 -
I just wanted to alert all consumers to this electonic online retailer (simply electronics dot net) and its marketing practices. Now I'm not disputing they are cheap, which they are or that they are selling dodgy gear, which they are not. However, I bought a Canon Flashgun from them prior to Christmas as openly on their site they "Guaranteed Christmas delivery if you ordered by a certain time", which of course I did. I wanted to be sure so I sent them numerous emails stating the importance of delivery on time. Obviously they didn't deliver on time (not even close) and despite numerous emails never ever gave a reason. I am now so sure that they put this "guarantee" on the website to entice buyers knowing all too well they could not deliver on their promise and that most consumers would have no choice but to lump (I complained to PayPal who said if the item was received it was no issue for them) - I've also complained to their local trading standards officer who indicated they would investigate if more people complained. What's interesting is that consumers have little recourse if you shop and delivery isn't as promised. If you suffered the Christmas blues with this retailer, please post below, thanks!
I ordered a Pebble Smartwatch from this website as they were cheaper than anyone else and had 3 left in stock so I thought I would get in there quickly and this was on the 2nd of November expecting my dispatch to be as stated on the website 2-3 days and a further 3-5 days for delivery and with their extensive range of well known couriers such as DHL,UPS etc. it would have been no problem for them at all to fulfil this as stated on their website.
So after a week with no dispatch I emailed them only to receive an email back stating that my order was still within their normal delivery times which obviously it was not.
Another week passed and still no dispatch but they updated my order to "Stock has been allocated and dispatch is pending" so I thought I would leave it and yet another week passed so I decided to email again and they were very apologetic and said that they would put a note down to the warehouse and get my order on priority dispatch which I was pleased to hear as you can imagine.
So I carried on waiting and waiting and they updated my order to "Allocating stock please expect delivery within the coming days" and so 1 month and 2 weeks in total later they have finally dispatched my order which was hardly worth the £20 pounds saving I made on the order.
I would say if you are willing to wait X amount of time for your order then yes the saving can be worth it but expect to be lied to about the whereabouts of your order and if the website says the item is in stock it more likely that it isn't as I have read from many others who have purchased from this website.
Personally I'm never going to give them my money again.0 -
