  • I am going through a similar issue re 2 pairs of hi end headphones, I was assured they would be here but 10 weeks later several emails and calls I am told they are under a lot of pressure with the amount of orders however I have been told my order will be with me by friday this week. I'm at a loss with regards to getting the money back as it was a debit card and not credit card the order went through skrill... any advise?

    Even with a debit card you may be able to do a chargeback.

    I say 'may' because Skrill being in the chain is a complication.

    Have a read of MSE's Chargeback article.

    I bought a Samsung Galaxy Mega from them. After paid by Pay pal my delivery date was given 7-10 days. The item reached to me 2 days later to me. I was bit worried about the company. There UK address showing on Google map in a house but there real address is in Hong Kong.
  • This is my story but Ive got to say my Bank The Halifax informed me when I went in to my branch and told them of my worries that I thought they was a scam. The Halifax told me that the best way to find out where the firm are operating from, you look at their terms and conditions and usually it says in very small print right at the back where they are based and also if you order something and when your money has gone out of your account the firm has 5 weeks to send the product, if you have not received it by then My bank Halifax said they would deal with it and after 21 days you will get your money back. So if your bank is different always check this fact out with them I also went into my bank and told them I thought the phone was a fake They then said to me if I could get a letter saying that it was, then they again would deal with it and I would get my money back via my bank Halifax

    I ordered a Sony Xperta Z1 compact phone from this scamming company AND did receive a phone about a 6/ 7 weeks later to find the camera was not working properly.... I have a Sony Ericssion 995 Walkman phone which has a good camera and I know from pass experience's that it does not matter how good a fake Sony phone is they can never get the camera right

    I have had 2 Sony phone's in the past month The 1st a fake , the 2nd brand new one poor quality pixels and zooming of the camera

    This is what I have written on Sonys Xperia Support forum as they were meant to be helping me! People were writing and complaining about the same thing helped me more than Sony on their site with suggestions on what to try.

    "I have given up with this phone... i can not believe how bad this phone is! It is a brand new phone sent from Sony via Car phone warehouse as my original one was a fake .... ( i took the phone I got from Simply Electronics to Carphone Warehouse as someone told me that they have got a contract with Sony so if your phone is under guarantee I would get it fixed for nothing!) I did not want to send it back to Simply Electronics through fear of not only losing my money but the phone as well! so take heed any one that orders from Simply Electronics.net as these people ARE NOT operating from UK as they advertise They are operating from Taiwan and I really do not know where all the positive feedback they have on their site comes from?
    I am going to sell this phone and hope I get my money back on it as there is no way I can get my money back from Simply Electronics.net. as my 30 days money back guarantee has been and gone as I thought the problems would have been solved after receiving a brand new phone back 3 days after I took the 1st phone in for repair??? . I did question why they have given me a new phone and that I think the old one was a fake the assistant did not know.

    I just wanted to alert all consumers to this electonic online retailer (simply electronics dot net) and its marketing practices. Now I'm not disputing they are cheap, which they are or that they are selling dodgy gear, which they are not. However, I bought a Canon Flashgun from them prior to Christmas as openly on their site they "Guaranteed Christmas delivery if you ordered by a certain time", which of course I did. I wanted to be sure so I sent them numerous emails stating the importance of delivery on time. Obviously they didn't deliver on time (not even close) and despite numerous emails never ever gave a reason. I am now so sure that they put this "guarantee" on the website to entice buyers knowing all too well they could not deliver on their promise and that most consumers would have no choice but to lump (I complained to PayPal who said if the item was received it was no issue for them) - I've also complained to their local trading standards officer who indicated they would investigate if more people complained. What's interesting is that consumers have little recourse if you shop and delivery isn't as promised. If you suffered the Christmas blues with this retailer, please post below, thanks!

    this company is a scam, do not buy anything on this website. i purchased a phone on the site and it said i would receive it in 4-10 days a month later they send me a different phone which they estimated a price which was higher then the phone i wanted and said sorry they are out of stock of the phone i wanted but, here is a more expensive phone for the same price and i should count myself lucky because they don't usually do wave the price for customers
    sorry abut the writing so angry :still waiting on my money back

  • I'm a photographer and I have bought very expensive cameras and Lenes from the far east before via different sellers. The savings are huge.
    I ordered my latest camera from Simply Electronics on the 1st of November. I have had notice of shipment and the tracking number says it is in Holland so nearly here. It may get held up in customs so I may have to wait for clearance.

    Let me explain the FACTS

    It takes time, but they should be more up front with their delivery times. Be patient, you will get your goods

    Register your goods online to enable your warranty

    You may or may not have to pay import duty.

    Before you buy anything read the terms and conditions.

    I have returned goods to far east traders in the past with no problems but it takes a long time for a replacement/refund but you will get it.

    SE have been in business a long time. They are not a dodgy company or they would have their credit card facility withdrawn and cease trading.

    The manuals or the electronic menus might not be in English as default but this is easily overcome.

    If you understand this and are not happy you can buy your goods from UK companies and pay double the price.

    Don't panic and think you are being ripped off!

    The problem with grey market products

    European consumers may find that grey market products do not meet their expectations because the products were not intended by Canon for the European market and did not undergo localisation by Canon. Accordingly consumers may find that a grey market product is not correctly localised, for example:

    (i) the box may not contain:
    • a UK power cord or contains a UK power cord or adaptor which was not provided by Canon and has not been quality checked by Canon;
    • the correct software discs or contains illegal copies of software which does not function;
    • an original English manual but contains a photocopy of the original English manual or a non-English manual;
    • a genuine Canon European warranty card but instead may contain a third party warranty card, a warranty card from a reseller based outside Europe or no warranty card at all;
    (ii) a Camera product may not display a valid serial number.

    As grey-market products are not intended by Canon for the European market, such products are ineligible to benefit from UK/European promotions, including Canon’s Cashback offers.

    Firstly, a grey product broadly defines any product that is sourced from a foreign market outside of the UK. Whilst we realise that at face value this provides a product that is sometimes cheaper, you might want to consider the following:
    • Should you wish to purchase from outside of the UK, your product may well not come with a valid UK warranty or offer you the chance to benefit from a particular manufacturers extended warranty. This will lead to the potentially costly exercise of securing a third party warranty.
    • Retailers operating outside of the UK may not include VAT or import duty. Should this be the case and you choose to purchase the product then you are legally obliged to pay the VAT at 20% and import duty.
    • Some grey products don't come with a 3 pin UK plug and English instructions. Some importers, however, do add this in to the box, but the product still may not be designed for use in the UK and may not adhere to UK safety standards.
    • Should your product go missing in transit then unless you have secured costly insurance cover then you will be obliged to pay for a new one as the retailer you have used may take no further responsibility once they have shipped the goods.
    • The same principle applies should there be a problem with the product; you are highly unlikely to secure any after-sales support.
    • You may also wish to consider how these products have been stored and shipped. Retailer standards in many countries will not be as high as they are in the UK with packaging and warehouse facilities often being rated as sub-standard
