Simply Electronics - WARNING

So we have established not to use Simplyelectronics if you are in a hurry or near death and wish to write your last will and testament on an iPad. I have used them once before for a camera which was for someone's birthday, a big mistake, but I used the facility to contact them, they were apologetic and polite but I then found out they were based in Hong Kong and that their delivery promises were a tad on the optimistic side. Ignore the delivery promises, but if you want to save a few bucks and don't have a heart condition then they are worth trying out. Expect to wait 20 to 30 days for delivery, I expect they ship the goods to the EU and then use a courier to make the final delivery. Most of all, in the words of Douglas Adams..... DON'T PANIC!!:j0

Then I called your companyagain and Faye told me that the camera could not be sent to my address as itwas a school address and for security reason it was better to provideanother address. Had I not called, I would still be waiting for the camera tobe delivered as no one sent me an email about it. Still, I agreed to replacethe school email by my home email.0 -
I ordered a bluetooth speaker, seduced by the price and unaware of the complaints. I cancelled order within 5 minutes of sending it when I read this tread. They took my money anyway, no speaker coming and after 5 weeks still waiting for a refund. No one helps just says "thanks for your patience" and "we will process your refund and email you". Doubt i will see my £62 again.0

Hi, anybody bought from this company using PayPal's new 'pay after delivery' method, at least they won't get your money until you've got what you're buying and satisfied... will they? I am tempted as their prices are so much cheaper.0

I'm not familiar with PayPal's pay after delivery. Does it withhold payment until the buyer is actually satisfied with the product, or does it pay as soon as the product arrives? If it's the latter, it wouldn't have helped me. Yeah, here's another mug who didn't study the small print before ordering an iPhone 5C. It was listed as unlocked and full warranty. It arrived after a bit of a delay (but not stupidly long) and so presumably PayPal would have paid up. I charged up the battery, inserted the SIM card, put the WiFi password in and ... nothing. A big round nothing.
I phoned Apple support and when I gave them the IMEI number, they told me it was locked to a US telecoms provider and was already part way through its warranty. Unless I contact the US telecoms provider and they agree to unlock the phone, it will never work on any UK network.
Simply Electronics' response? All our phones are brand new and come under our own warranty. So far they have refused to issue me with any details for returning the phone. Am I holding my breath for a refund? Yeah, right.0 -

I have been had by this company too. But I did not get any option to pay by pay pal if I had I wouldn't have been in this mess now.0

I have also been stung by Simply Electronics. I bought my son a phone. After a couple of months it broke. It was still under warranty and Sinply Electronics asked me to return it. I did so. That was on 2nd July!!! Despite my increasingly desperate emails and phoning them they just keep sending me chipper 'be patient' replies. Then, this month I realised that they had used the phone snd Sim (which I had foolishly sent. I have a £5 cap on my SIm contract which they had used with calls outside the EU. I have repeatedly asked them to a) compensate me for this
b) escalate the matter
c) return my phone
But all to no avail. I have been advisec that as they are outside the UK I cannot take legal action. Any ideas on what I can do?0 -
It really is a pity that people don't do their research BEFORE the order from these sharks. They mush have found them on the Internet so why, particularly when they see how much cheaper than other they are, don't they take the trouble to Google them. All the information about the many problems people have are there for all to see.0
