Simply Electronics - WARNING

  • Hi, of course I understand that some people have been let down, conned, swindled, whatever you want to call it. Simply Electronics could go bankrupt tomorrow and I couldn't care one bit. The ipad I ordered has a uk plug with the apple guarantee in the box, if it goes wrong I will take it back to an apple shop and let them deal with it. I don't care if it came from Hong Kong or China, I just want the product.

I thought, as I was one of the people who had looked at reviews for this company AFTER I had placed my order, and panicked like many others seem to have done, that it would be nice of me to let fellow worriers know that Simply Electronics on this particular occasion didn't do anything wrong. So there is a chance, just a chance that somebody else might also receive something they ordered.

When you are immediately accused of being a fraud just because it was my first post is, in my opinion going to put me and other newbies on the offensive. Everybody has to have a first post.

  • Ok Froggitt, you obviously don't like other people, particularly newbies posting reviews on YOUR forum. All the information I am prepared to give you is on the 28th march I got an email from Simply Electronics saying my order had been dispatched. The next email I have is from DPD saying it is in transit on the 31st of March which is also the day of delivery, I have three emails from DPD, all from the 31st March tracking my order to the point it was delivered. I won't tell you my home postcode, but I work on the edge of the New Forest, if you are anywhere near there and would like to call me a liar face to face, send me a personal message and I'll gladly meet up with you. Who would have thought it would be so difficult to leave a positive review?

Its not that I don't like other people, I just don't like other people who are scammers or spammers, and lead decent hardworking people into making poor buying decisions.

Like you saying the ipad was dispatched from the UK, where everyone else is saying it comes from Hong Kong and you may end up with a customs bill.

And the unexplained gap between ordering and dispatch in your story.

And the post made one day before yours for the same ipad air
I naively ordered an ipad air in march this year as their website stated 4-10 days for delivery. Simply Electronics go thru a merchant called Moneybookers. I was 24 hours later deffrauded over £400 from my account by fraudsters. To add insult to injury, I have not received my goods despite several calls and emails and had money fraudulently taken from my account. They claim they are expediating my delivery. I have no faith that I will ever receive my goods and its day 18 already. Avoid this company at all costs. They cannot deliver and you may be putting your money at risk by using their site.
Biggest regret I have ever made.

  • Why do I feel I have to repeat myself?
I have said before if you bothered to read my full posts, I don't care if it did come from Hong Kong. I'm not forcing anyone to use them. I placed an order, paid for it and received it. That is exactly how an online purchase should work and on this occasion it did. I merely put it on here for other customers of simply electronics who might panic in the same way I did when they looked at reviews.
You clearly have too much time on your hands if all you need to do in life is try to bully hard working people trying to save money because they posted a review YOU don't agree with.

By purchasing a product through the Site, customers outside of Hong Kong will normally be subjected to import duties and taxes and any other applicable customs related costs. Customs policies differ from country to country, which may result in indirect customs related costs in addition to the directly related customs costs charged by the courier. Customers typically should contact their local customs office if more information is required about this. Simply Electronics will have no control over applicable customs policies. You agree that you are the sole importer of the product(s) and are responsible for all import duties and taxes, and any related levies for the purchase of your product(s).

Whatever saving you make purchasing thru this lot, you are likely to pay 20% VAT plus whatever import duty it is liable for.

They even say so themselves, although its in very small writing on their site!!!

ALL TRANSACTIONS CONCLUDED THROUGH THE SITE, INCLUDING PURCHASES OF PRODUCTS ON THE SITE, SHALL BE DEEMED TO BE CONDUCTED UNDER AND GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF THE HONG KONG SPECIAL ADMINISTRATIVE REGION.

So you have no protection from UK or EU law if it all goes t1ts up. Its Chinese law that applies.

    For clarity

n these Terms of Use, we refer to Simply Electronics Ltd. as "Simply Electronics" and the website as the "Site". Our address is:

I personally am not disagreeing with your post .
The Simple fact is that your experience is the total opposite of my experience and many others .
FACT many of these company's will post a well my experience was brilliant missive on forums and the clue to that is one they are a first time poster two they may well continually dispute others who do not agree .Three they either never post again or post only on that single topic .Four they have managed to join a forum and through thousands of posts have found the one topic .
Your OP may be 100% genuine and your joining the forum and posting a positive review with your first post may be 100% genuine .
But we have seen all this before on this board many times fake positive posts . Thats the reason that your post is taken as probably one of the usual fakes even if SE actually got it right and its 100% true .
The balance of evidence against SE is plain to see and posted on multiple forums and even trading standards are well aware of this company .

@paneltech - your claim is that Simply Electronics and HMRC are in collusion to keep down the costs of ipads by not charging VAT or duty on imports from Hong Kong? Is that right?

Or, you never ordered one, and youre probably paid by Simply to trawl social sites and forums and post positive experiences, as their reputation is so rock bottomly low.

    Which is it?

  • I haven't claimed any of those things and your continued pursuit is now bordering on slander. I have reported two of your accusing posts to whoever runs this forum. Might I point out the little note that says something like 'new user please be nice'.
