Simply Electronics - WARNING

  • I ordered a Samsung Note 8 GT N5100 from Simply Electronics before I found the forum. After reading the comments I started to panic. However, my order status was kept up to date & whenever I emailed them I received a reply with minutes. The replies answered my query although it was obvious they were stock answers. I received my order within 13 working days just as their site says. From being dispatched the item arrived within 2 working days. I was kept informed by Simply Electronics of its whereabouts & provided with a tracking order so I could also track. When it entered the UK the courier kept me informed & I was told when I could expect delivery. On the day of delivery I was advised of the hour my tablet would arrive & given an option to change the day or have delivered to a neighbour. It arrived when they said it would & very well packaged.
If you're in a rush for you goods then buy else where. If not trust these & they will deliver. I would have no hesitation buying again from SImply Electronics. There is lot of scare mongering on here. Trust them.

I couldn't agree more. From my experience, too, I don't have any complaints.

I think these days people expect goods ordered online to be delivered within a couple of days. They then panic and cancel their order. That's where the problems seem to be. Stay calm, stick with it, and expect your goods to arrive within about 3 weeks and be patient. If you want goods in a hurry and are prepared to pay the market price shop elsewhere. Don't expect the normal warranty either.

Trust them? In the way that you'd trust someone who goes to the trouble to join MSE just to make one single post like yours? :rotfl:
  • Hi,

I felt compelled to leave a message here, if only to ease the concerns of anyone who has bought from simply electronics recently and is now worried by the many negative posts on here.

My recent purchase went fine, although the iPad actually took 17 days in total to arrive (not the 10-14 estimated when I bought). DPD delivering was as usual great, and their online tracking tool is amazing. I was not charged any import taxes, the ipad is a UK model and was really well packed and arrived in perfect condition. The box included the Apple global warrantee (not tried to claim on it though, so not sure if Apple is likley to get upset that I bought from a Hong Kong based retailer - but then why should they, they sell across the globe?).

I'm sure someone will now send a post claiming that I work for simply electronics (some people clearly don't have anything better to do with their time!) but my experience with this company was fine, and I saved £100 off the cheapest price.

Happy to oblige - nobody's going to believe you, I'm afraid. You're just not plausible. :rotfl:
  • ABSOLUTELY **DO NOT** BUY FROM THESE SCAMMERS!!!

I wish I had read all the various internet reviews before making a purchase from Simply Electronics[dot]Net for a Samsung Galaxy Note 2! They promised 4-10 days delivery. No sign of the product now after 13 days. I started emailing them on day 7 noticing that they still had not updated my account order status to "packing" or "packed" or "dispatched" as obviously it would take 2-3 days to arrive (if even from within the UK). I am going on holiday tomorrow 1-APR-14 and was expecting it to get here by last friday the 28-3-14 (the 10th delivery day of their 4-10 days promised).

I have email addresses below and links that are prohibited in this forum for new users like me, so I have updated the "." with "[dot]" so it would post, and people are made aware...

I have sent many emails asking when they will be shipping my phone. AFTER SOME EMAILS... I finally asked if they even had the item in stock. They replied this:

    *******
    *******

    "Thank you for your email.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to you.

We would like to inform you that we do have this item in stock, we do not have any issue with that.

Also, we have already forwarded this matter to the higher management so that they can do something to sort this out. Rest assured that we are working hand in hand to send this out to your doorstep as soon as we can.

Please bear with us the moment.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,

I said if you have it in stock then why aren't you shipping it??

They then send me this email on 27-3-14:

    *******

    "Thank you for your e-mail.

I am pleased to confirm that your order was sent in for packing this morning. Dispatch is scheduled within 48-72 hours. Our customer service team will send you the tracking details in a separate email late this evening or early tomorrow (due to a server maintenance I understand this could possibly happen).

If you require any further assistance on my part, please do not hesitate to contact me again.

Thank you and have a nice day ahead.

Authorities contacted. We emailed them again to inform them of our legal pursuits and recovery actions for the money they have stolen.

They replied on my partner's email today 31-3-14, the following:

"My extended apologies for the inconvenience caused.

If I'd read all the posts on this thread before placing my order for a new iPad, I probably wouldn't have bothered and bought it from Amazon for a few quid more.

FWIW, I placed the order on the 18th March, was given a proposed delivery date of 7-14 working days after that. I monitored my order and after about a week got a message to say that it had been packed and would be sent for delivery in 1-2 days. I got an email yesterday from the carrier with tracking details and it was delivered just after midday today.

It's hard to find fault with a company that did exactly what it promised to do.

Maybe you might just trust someone who has made over 1300 posts in the last 6 years.

I accept absolutely what you say. A rare positive post for Simply from someone with a track record. :)
  • DO NOT BUY FROM SIMPLY ELECTRONICS
DO NOT BE DECEIVED BY THE CHEAP PRICES
THIS IS NOT A UK COMPANY

I ordered an expensive Cannon Mk 3D camera...which they sent but I was then required to pay duty on it which they said had been included. They subsequently said they would make payment for this which they did not so the camera was returned. That was in mid January.

Since then I have repeatedly phoned requesting my refund and have repeatedly been told it is being processed. It is now 1st April. More empty promises and absolutely no sign of a refund too date.

I compounded my mistake by paying by wire transfer and have subsequently lost the security of backup via a credit company.

DO NOT BUY FROM SIMPLY ELECTRONICS. They look like a UK company with UK prices but they are based in Hong Kong which represents significant issues in pursuing them for a refund/legal action
  • Can I just ask with them being imports did any of you who actually ordered from these get charged extra from customs ??
