As previously stated AVOID, AVOID, AVOID Simply Electronics at all costs.
  • Its a bit late! They've said they process the refund diligently! So if I've heard nothing tomorrow I'll go to the bank, and possibly the police if they take the money, having been specifically instructed not to.

It's exactly what they kept emailing me. It's just a standard reply. I cancelled minutes, after placing the order on Jan 10th and only received refund end of last week, so over 2 months it took them to refund the money.

They take the money when you first place the order, well they did with me and others I've read about.

Be prepared as well for them to despatch the product after you have cancelled as they done that to me, even though I had sent them countless emails confirming cancellation.

They really are the worst company I have ever dealt with!
  • Just spoken to the bank. Sadly they have to honour the payment as it was made on debit card. So the company will take my money whether I like it or not. I've informed them that I'm not happy with that. I've told them that if its not refunded immediately that the bank will open a dispute and they will deal with it. I've also advised them that I will consider the unauthorised removal of funds as theft and will report it to the UK and HK police! Now we wait. They haven't actually removed funds yet but HSBC could see the transaction so I'm expecting it to vanish fairly soon.
I wonder if emailing them a link to this thread will chivvy them along?
  • Just recieved email confirming order cancellation. They have advised up to two weeks to process the refund! I've given them 48 hours or it goes to HSBC to deal with. Money still in my account at the moment, still don't understand why they can't just cancel it! Bloody cowboys. I would normally research a company before ordering. I blame man flu!

I tried to get my bank to cancel transaction and they said the same they couldn't cancel.

So, then the whole nightmare began. Simply Electonics did not listen to anything I emailed, hence still despatching the order.

My bank was useless, tried to implement chargeback and were refusing to do it, (more details in the thread I started) finally agreed after hassling them but in the meantime Simply Electronis finally refunded just last week.

I wish you luck, you certainly are going to need it.
  • Thanks. Another email just arrived confirming cancellation. They state I will get another once refund has been 'initiated' but they've had my time constraint and HSBC have already stated they will pursue it if I'm not happy. So now we wait! But to be fair, so far they've responded to all of my emails promptly. I'm expecting to now be given the run around. I'll update accordingly.

Yes please do update. I would like to know if it turns into an epic 2 month saga like mine did.

The only advice I can give is to keep emailing Simply Electronics which is was I did and to make sure the parcel DOESN'T get despatched from them. As I had to wait for it to arrive in the UK, refuse the delivery, wait for it to get all the way back to Simply Electronics and then it still took them weeks to confirm they had received it back.
  • Well my order page says the cancellation has been submitted, still no funds gone from account. Maybe, fingers crossed, the prompt curt emails have done the job!

I cancelled on the 10/01/14 . Payment showed up on my bank as actually being debited on the 14/01/14.
