Well the cat appears to be out of the bag.....
I hope it's all you both wish it to be, and that you settle.I have just counted up and I have moved 23 times since I married at 18. 10 times with my first husband and 13 with OH...this will be our 14th move and it had better be our last, we must have just about kept removal firms in work over the years. LOL.
I've moved 10 times in my life, but the 6th to 10th times were between 1999 & 2006....move to "save" marriage, move back to mums after break-up, move out of mum's to save my sanity, move to more permanent home, then move into OH's when both DS's left home...went to my mums for a roast dinner, there is nothing like your mums roast, also took all my dirty bedding which she said she will wash and dry for me :T, I am lucky to have her...
My mum was invaluable during all but my last move - did the washing (and ironed it) fed us all, stuffed her garage full of my "stuff"...missed her loads when I moved into OH's. Hope all goes well tomorrow.
Well, we've had an interesting day - OH & I went to a wedding fair....seems like we have set a date, and have appointments with the registrar & venue this week.....gulp! Apart from having leaflets thrust into our hands, the sharp intake of breath at the cost of photographers and skirting past things like chocolate fountains, candy buffets & balloon art (... do they mean animals?) it was quite entertaining....in a "gawd, that's so awful" type way!
Have also spent the rest of the day in the kitchen.....big pan of carrot & corainder soup, big pan of leek & potato soup (deemed the best soup I've ever made) and a dozen meringues later..... also made fish pie yesterday & chicken & porcini risotto on Friday....we're both off work this week, so lots of scope for leftover meals!
Seems to be raining on the Lancashire coast....should be interesting if it gets cold again later...0 -
Hi Hester - my hats are very basic - did the original Premmie/new born one from the "crochet anyone" thread pattern in post #281 - and just adapted this a little to do an adult one, basically just trebles. Do you have a proper pattern? I am just learning this so need something easy to practice with.
Redruby - good luck for tomorrow, hope the weather holds off for you. Hope it isn't too long before you are connected with us again.

We got married in March and I can recommend the wedding ideas magazine (and forum) proper little bargain hunters in there!

Well, we had a good lunch. MIL enjoyed her spag bol and plum crumble with us. We just finished the rest of the crumble after this evening's meal, which was a bit late in the end. Used up some leftovers, end of guacomole, tomato salsa and quesadillas from last night, end of olives from the night before, end of salad from lunchtime. Made some red pepper houmous (recipe was d & DD's and is delicious and sooooovery easy).
Easy yo didn't seem to go as well this time, was only my third lot, first two were fine. will see what it's like when it's chilled. Been very impressed with the results.
TOmorrow I'l be missing I think, as I'm taking dd back to Uni at Bath. Not a very MS operation as I have decided not to go there and back in one day. Struggled to find a reasonably priced hotel, but then found I could stay in a 'guest' hotel style room on campus. It'll cost me petrol, groceries and a meal probably as well. Will pack the big flask, but in reality we shall probably want to stop for stretching our legs.
Must remember to find something for ds for pack up.
Hope you all have a warm safe day tomorrow."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Zippychick: its not a case of not settling in our present home, its that at 77 he feels he would like to go back to Scotland, and if thats what he wants that is what will happen.
If I had said no that would have been the end of it.........
aaahhh I sooo understand. That;s how I felt at 49:j. Despite there being a time-lapse between selling in England and buying in Scotland (different laws) and staying with DD meantime, I'm so thrilled to be back 'home'.
Redruby - thinking of you for tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a clear day for moving. Look forward to hearing how you are getting on in your new home
Take care all and stay warm

Hi all!
I never want to hear the 's' word again, never mind see it, so have decided that I have to eventually admit that I am getting old. Has been thawing here to-day but snowing as well, not sure how things will be to-morrow, will not be venturing anywhere I think, schools here are all closed until Thursday due to weather.
NPM....poor Noah, hope that he is feeling better to-morrow....
Csarina....you are wonderful....I have moved once since I got married 40 years ago and will never do it again, so congratulations on your 'get up and go'...I can understand that if OH wants to live in his 'homeland' that you would want to fall in with his wishes, but I still think that you are a very brave lady.
We had fish, baked potatoes and peas for dinner, cooked in my small oven that I bought in Lidl some time ago for €35....has to use less electricity than my main oven. We finished some soup that I made on Friday, so must make some more to-morrow.
Left the heat on constant last night by mistake, our bedroom was like a sauna when I woke up this morning, so have been careful to check that it is on timed to-night, was too warm and it was also using too much of my precious oil.
Haven't seen DD3 since Christmas day, she and her bf were away for a few days and she has been severely pressed to get to work ever since so have not encouraged her to come visit, she lives 8 miles away and the roads are never good in bad weather so would rather she stayed at home where she is safe and warm.
Welcome to newbies, I am losing my memory totally on names so don't take it personally!
Redruby, hope that your move to-morrow goes to plan, you sound as if you are very organised, hope that nothing puts a spanner in the works for you.
Hugs to all, stay well and safe
