Pink hope you are ok on your rounds and managing to get where you need to

Pipkin (((hugs))) to you hope your pain eases soon

I am sat having a mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream on top and its yummy.

I made the apple crumble for lunch today and everyone said it was lovely ( I hate cooked fruit in any form so didnt have any) so that used up the apples and I made orange squash with the oranges which the kids really enjoyed.

bedding all washed and dry - so will put that on in a mo. I need to get my stuff ready for work tomorrow in case I have to walk again

then I might put my feet up for half an hour ;)

Well the cat appears to be out of the bag. I had been trying to keep what is going on private for a little while until we had actually made a concrete decision, but either from what I have posted or from intuition my friend has guessed what is going on.

OH is a Scot born and bred in Edinburgh, where we lived for a number of years. A week ago he confessed that he would like to go back and live out his days in his home country. No way could I deny him this wish and for the last week we have been doing some research.

We have found a cottage and if the gods are with us and it’s suitable we shall be moving back to East Lothian. We are going up on Tuesday to stay with friends and have a look at the cottage………I have already contacted some removal agents to see how much it is going to cost and was pleasantly surprised. When we moved 3 years ago it cost us over £600 to move less than a quarter of a mile. Most of the quotes we have had are just around the £1,000 mark. It will be a 3 day move pack and load one day; drive up the next, deliver on day 3. We are looking at a return trip with a Scottish firm, it will work out a bit cheaper to take a return load. If the cottage is not suitable we will continue to look until we find something.

Having moved less than a year ago I am not thrilled, but I will cope with it…..

It’s a very grey day here today. We have had a few snow showers, but really they have come to nothing………there is still snow lying and it is slippy but mainly because we have a slight thaw.

This morning we nipped to the allotment to pick up the snow shovel to take with us. Then hi-tailed over to M & S to see what we could get for our £100 of vouchers. OH came away with cord trousers a sweater and 2 tee shirts, me I got another zip up fleece and a long sleeved tee short but nothing else. With oh tailing me I really could not rake as I would have liked to, so may be will go into the city to the M & S store there and see what I can get there. We also went into Asda, I picked up candles, we will be all electric apart from the wood burner, so candles are an essential as is a decent torch, we bought a wind up one.

I cooked lunch rather than supper today we have just had pork chops with all the trimmings followed by apple and plum crumble. Just sarnies later me thinks.

I have been trying out my new thermals, they are very comfortable, I might have to buy some more……….kept me toasty warm all the time we were out this morning.

Trying to keep OH’s feet on the ground is not easy just now, I am surprised he has not started packing already……he is the king of packers!!!!

    Afternoon all.

Had my first attempt at making fat balls for the birds out of some spare netting from a bag of onions - very MSE :D No birds eating it yet but it might take them a while to realise that there is now actually some food out there!!!
Went to the supermarket - hardly any eggs, most of what was left were broken, found one pack which only had one broken one and just replaced it with a good one from another broken pack. It was either that or have no eggs and I'd only got one left in the fridge. ALL of the salt was gone too - I wouldn't mind but we haven't had that much snow so not really sure why A) people feel the need to clear the shelves and B) why Mr S can't seem to keep the shelves stocked.....

it's been snowing on and off all day here but it's been really fine stuff and not made any impact on the amount of snow we'd already got hanging around. It was +2 when I went out in the car - it felt positively balmy :rotfl: I even went out to hang up my fat balls in just a t-shirt and cardi rather than wrapping up in 20 layers like I'd had to do of late.
Having a makeshift for tea so might do a baked spud with tuna. Got some salad that needs using up.

Strawberryyoghurt - welcome - hope you'll stay with us :)

BB - that ranks up there when my mums oldest lab hoovered up a load of sheep poo when she was younger during a walk in the country and proceesed to puke it back up in the boot of the car (whilst in transit). Eurgh came out like a big green snake <retches>

csarina - good luck with your house hunting.

pipkin - hope you're feeling a bit better soon xx

NPM - poor Noah, sorry you're going to be having such a lean month money-wise.

Hester - :rotfl: at Gok being puked on. I have to say I do like him, he never fails to make women feel good about themselves. Don't always like his styling but if I had the guts I'd love to be on his show.:rotfl:

Wrap up warm and I hope the snow doesn't come for most of you. I think the message is move to the West Midlands as we don't seem to be getting the worst of the snow :rotfl:

I have just counted up and I have moved 23 times since I married at 18. 10 times with my first husband and 13 with OH...this will be our 14th move and it had better be our last, we must have just about kept removal firms in work over the years. LOL.

  • Hi everyone, nice to meet you!
Our garden is still white, has been over three weeks since the snow first came!
Tonight I plan to clear another shelf in my room.
Did quite a bit of baking yesterday, layered lemon cake (lemon sponge filled with lemon curd and topped with lemon drizzle icing) and a batch of buns. Cake all gone :O
Need to make tomorrow's pack lunch tonight as well :)
    xx
