    Morning all ,

I have not been around for such a long time , mainy due to work committments and Uni work to do . Uni will be finished soon and its my NYR to get sorted , house and all , so that means OS , ebaying and Car boots ( when weather warmer)

Anyhoos this week has been terrible , boiler packed up , my freezer broke , my oven (again) is acting up .. Snow snow and more snow ..

My veg box scheme delivery didnt turn up because the shop is snowed in so I ended up shopping at tescos

Well enough of my problems , I have started my economy gastrionmy cooking , sorta ties in with rivercottage every day . so OS wise my first bedrock of Poached chicken is in the SC . So from this we will get a few pies , coronation chicken and hot and sour soup .

The snow has prevented me from getting to the butchers , so I have to pop out today if the OH lets me and gets up in time ( theres a farmers market on so I should get some good chuck steak for my 2nd bedrock.)

Its 8:25 I have been up 2 hours , done 2 loads of washing for my mum as her washing machine is frozen , I may see if I can dig so LO for her . Shes started to be OS again as she has a bit more time dueto retiring soon.. Think she has realsised how good home cooked food is . :D Although pestering from me may help.

I am going to make chocolate cake today ( for the DH of course ;)) to have with my spiced clemintines I made for xmas.

DS is playing with happy land and im being very un OS and having my heating on . My DS is 2 and TBH , is alot better when its warm .. mood wise .

I hope u all have a nice day as im off to do a small shop online to be delivered to MIL as a little surprise .. she has recently been diagnosed with lukimia so i want to make sure her and fil are stocked up.. Might sort a veg box to be delivered to her as a surprise as well.

Love you all Hugs to those who need it and ty for listening to me rant...:grouphug:

PS did anyone notice those lovely malteser bunnies are back in the shops .... some did make it into my trolley yesterday :o

  • Morning all, not as much new snow as we feared but still pretty chilly

I've decided to try doing a flylady week this week:eek: so am going to do a couple of half hour blitzes today to get ready for that.

Lunch will be chicken and lentil casserole in the slow cooker and I need to tackle the mountain of soggy snow clothes that has appeared in my kitchen. Amazing what the dd's find in their rooms when i tell them they've nothing left to wear :rotfl:

Hope you all have a good day

Happy Sunday everyone!!! Not any more snow last night but apparently we've 20cm on the way! So my OS today is using up the leftovers from the weeks meals - so no cooking today - except for potatoes to go with the leftovers. The children want to be glued to the Wii - so I'm going to throw them out in the garden for an hour or so!

Dogs are curled up on the sofa keeping DH warm! I've got a HUGE pot of chilli bubbling away on the hob which is making the house smell gorgeous. Despite flying last week the house looks like a bomb has gone off - so have mountains of cleaning to do.

Must also get washing done so will no doubt spend evening ironing! Hope the TV is good! Have a great day and get prepared for the week ahead.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Morning folks.

Well still cold here but no more snow as yet. Boys are busy watching Ben 10 while I grab my coffee and a little browse through here. Sledgng yesterday for ds1 was a great success although thnk ds2 is still a bit little and unsure. That and I need to get them waterproof gloves as they were screaming by the end of cold hands!

Todays os will be stockin up for the week from Mr T's and getting stuff n to cook ahead for the week.

Really need to re-organise my bedroom too. The kids and myself are all in one bedroom as we moved in to my parents house two years ago while the house sells.....it's still on the market and my ex oh, his new fiancee and her 3 kids get to live in my house. All not fair but there is no way I could have carried on living 200 miles from all my friends and family alone with the kids. Been on housing lists for 3 years now and going no where fast. Oh well make the best of a bad situation even though I feel 12 again!!

Tomorrow is my day off work so plenty freezer cooking and maybe a dvd with ds2.

Warm hugs to everyone that needs them xx
Although I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:

  • Good Morning All

Halight - best wishes for a speedy recovery, also to anyone else under the weather

Redruby - hope the snow allows you to move tomorrow!

Diva (((hugs))) for you and Pam

We had a tiny bit more snow last night but this morning there is definately signs of a thaw (albeit small signs)

The British Gas engineer phoned a while ago - he mentioned that is was possibly our condenser pipe that had frozen even though the heating was on - seems a common problem in this weather - can't remember who but someone else on here had the same problem.

Didn't end up with a productive day yesterday - think my shopping trip to Asda used up all my energy. So am going for it today, wm already on, beef brisket in the slow cooker. Just waiting for DD then will be cooking kippers for breakfast (not for OH he detests them) will be followed by bread and jam as this helps to stop any repeats. Washing and ironing piles will be cleared today.

    Have a good one.x
  • Morning chums ,snowing yet again,Like most of uss the initial thrill of seeing the white stuff is wearing a bit thin. I will be pleased when it all goes away and we can get things back to normal again. My joint in my SC is done and my kitchen smells lovely.Put it on at 11.30 last night, and its beautiful and tender this morning. Think Ill have a dig around in the freezer for my veggies I may make a cheese cake for pud as I have lots of cream cheese left over from Christmas.Hope everyone has a good day and keeps wrapped up and warm
    Take care all

    Morning all

Very grey skies here this morning so think the promised snow will probably arrive unfortunately. The novelty has worn off for me too and I just want to be able to get out and about again.

Today am making shepherds pie(s) for lunch with a couple for the freezer too, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, honied carrots etc. Also making fruit soda bread for during the week packed lunches and some flapjacks that I am going to throw the left over nuts, raisins and chocolate chips into to use as breakfast bars (hope that it works!)

Diva (((Hugs))) thinking of you and prayers for Pam and Tris
SunnyGirl Thinking of you and yours (((Hugs)))
Also (((Hugs))) to anyone who else who is feeling poorly or sad.

Right off to make a start - the sooner I get my jobs done the quicker I can get back to my crochet practice (half way through a bootee now!) really enjoying this!

Have a warm, safe and happy day all
