Is anyone else having the same problem as me?

I have spent a total of two and a half hours on the phone in the last five days trying to get a MAC code tiscali/TalkTalk. I just can't get through to a 'customer services adviser'.

If this is happening to every Tiscali customer who is trying to cancel, and I suspect there are hundreds, they must be making a fortune just from the people vainly hanging on their 0871 phone line (no, I didn;t use it!).

At this rate I will not be able to transfer to a new ISP before they move me to TalkTalk's new terms, conditions, and grossly inflated prices.

Time to put pen to paper.

If you're moving your line as well, you shouldn't need a MAC code (see above posts). If you're not, I seem to remember there is a geographic "high level complaints" number on saynoto0870 - it worked for me a while back, but things may have changed...

I got the letter too. From £5 per month to £14.99, a 200% increase (small increase they said).

Anyway got my mac code and going with Sky.

£10 per month for the unlimited package, plus 6 months free. For the next 12 months I'll be paying what I was paying before, £5 per month.

Anyone who needs to call Tiscali/TalkTalk should look-up the 01/02 alternative on SAYNOTO0870.COM. ;)
  • Ok...I have something of a dilemma in regards to leaving talk talk. Ive been told that im an LLU customer, so I cant transfer directly from talk talk to sky which is my preferred choice as talk talk have a tag on my line which means they cant do anything with it. When i spoke to the talk talk cancellation people they said my only option was to go back to BT and get them to take over my phone line and then I could switch providers. The only problem is that if i go back to BT i get tied into a 12 month contract, which means i cant get sky line rental and therefore cant get the broadband offer.

So far ive spoken with talk talk, BT, Ofcom, Sky and the post office to try and figure something out and it seems i have 2 options.

    1) go back to bt line rental and just get plusnet or something for my broadband.
    2) pay for a new phone line to be installed by the post office (at a cost of £110) then join sky from there.

If anyone has any other suggestions or can give me some advice on what to do next that would be great as ive been pulling my hair out for the best part of the morning trying to figure out how to leave talk talk without cutting my nose off to spite my face....

    Many thanks
    Nicola

There is nothing to stop you having Sky broadband, or Sky talk (if you really want it) when you pay BT for your line rental.
If you don't and in the future want to move away from Sky you will be in the same boat as you are with Talk Talk now.
Sky are moving Sky broadband and talk (LLU) customers onto their own network as Talk Talk do, so you wont have a BT line.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Taken from Sky website:

Get ready to download blockbuster movies, music tracks and more with up to 20Mb broadband. Free with Sky Talk for your first 6 months, saving you £60, and only £10 a month thereafter. Plus save all year with free evening and weekend calls# to UK landlines with Sky Talk Freetime. When you take Sky Talk you can keep your BT line rental or switch to Sky Talk line rental for just £11 a month.

You don't have to have your line rental with them to be able to have their broadband

    hope this helps

  • Does anyone know what Talk Talk do if you go over the 40GB download limit per month? I've searched the site and can't see anything about charging extra (as some others do).. thanks

I rang the upgrade line which is a 0800 number. Told them I wanted to cancel and for them to provide me the MAC code. Not waiting around, though she did try and reduce the £14.99 offer to half price for 2 months, not much of a deal.
