I have just finished talking to the TT repricing dept. and here are some more information:
 - if you had the free week-end international calls to the top 10 countries, this won't be removed from Feb 15th.
 - if you go beyond the 40Gb limit you will be charged 10p/GB BUT if can only go beyond the limit for three consecutive months after which your limit will be just 40GB with no possibility to go beyond even paying more. TT could not give me any information on my monthly data usage but I have just installed NetMeter to monitor that.
 - if you have been with Tiscali longer than one year no cancellation fee is to be paid.
 - it is actually more convenient to ask a new provider to switch the service rather than cancelling TT and registring with a new one. This will avoid remainign without service for some days.
 - if you have gone past the 12 months with Tiscali you will not automatically enter the new 18 months contract but you will be charged the new tarif and get the "free" evening and w/e calls in the UK.
I hope this helps. One question remains:
I find a similar price hike in the current ecomic situation totally unfair so, what other options are out there if you do not have a BT line? I have checked Virigng but seems to be more expensive..even with the money back offer...please correct me if I am wrong here.
 Thanks!0

I have had a shandy@tiscali-co-uk account for years ever since I used Tiscali as my pay as you go dial up.
I use Virgin as my isp now.
It is all still working but I wonder for how long?
I don't know for sure, but I'd hazard a guess that if it is from the dial up days it will continue to work.
The reason for this reply, I have one from a dial up account, I haven't been near Tiscali for about 3yrs and it still works.
I use it as a throw away/sign up address, but it doesn't seem to get spammed, so will continue to use it.
BTW, I normally use Googlemail, so isp independent, and use Googlemail to collect mail from the Tiscali account.Move along, nothing to see.0

I currently only have Broadband internet only at £14.99 with no additional telephone services. I have not yet had letter from TalkTalk. I have no interest in their combined internet/phone service. I await with interest to see what package they offer me.0

Your option is simple-leave TT and take your business to any other ISP of your choice. Having to get your line un-LLU'd should not be an obstacle. No free lunch, and no free laptop 0 0

Some good articles above. It is like "Robin Hood" robing you and you thanking them!!!
"TT" aren't shouting their right royal rip-off price increases!! But if you go to BT you have 11.54 (weekend calls + 15.99 (10gb BB) = £27.53 (£32.53 for 20GB/WE calls)0

I have a similar package going back to the Pipex days I was paying £14.99 for unlimited broadband however the letter I received said that for the same money I could accept their telephone line (which I don't want) and a 40gb cap or if I didn't take their telephone line I would have my monthly bill put up to £19.99 (over 33% increase) and a 40gb cap introduced:mad: This is because I am one of their "Most Valuable Customers" Yeah right! I phoned them to ask for my MAC code and after about 15 minutes on the phone, spelling out a conversation  they eventually agreed that I could have a MAC code which came via text yesterday.
So I am now on the lookout for a new BB provider but because I am connected to a rural BT exchange and no other companies have equipment in the exchange, my choices are limited.
 Good riddance to Pipex/Tiscali/Talktalk:j0

Ex Tiscali customer - now Talk Talk
Been on the phone to Talk Talk after receiving a letter today saying from Feb 15th my current package will be changing to up to 8Mb b.band subject to line and location with free evening & w.end talk with monthly subscription of £18.48.
Checked my bill and it's up to £32.10. Tiscali bills average £19 - £25 approx.
Have the following info from advisor...incidentally got passed on to car phone warehouse initially to a sales advisor who was baffled as to why I'd been passed on to him whilst making my enquiry. 20 minutes later....
 Results::T
Info is..VAT included in £18.48 Yeah ok.
Free anytime local calls but 1/2p (is this a currency) a minute other calls. Yeah ok.
 Free w.end calls. Yeah ok.
Free calls after 6pm ....usual stuff. Yeah ok.
Free calls to other Talk Talk customers. Don't know any but ok.
Free w.end calls to 0845/0870 No's. Hmmm. ok!
Now here's the catch.....You will be charged £29.95 for new Talk Talk cable....Hello! not in letter!!! and you must have a new telephone No. as you were a Tiscali Cable customer. This is a bargain as our charges are normally £59.95.
Asked why this was not on the Talk Talk update letter. Told...you will be receiving a letter before the 15th February. Why not tell us now?
Plus I am told there is nowhere cheaper on the market today!
So, all of you who think they are going over from Tiscali smoothly without additional hassle or cost...think again.
Would of thought as an incentive, they could of thought of something more encouraging. Beware the extra cost on your bill then, unless of course you have already been informed or made enquiries.0

Tiscali didn't do cable services, only ADSL. Virgin are the only current cable operator, previously TeleWest or NTL.
If you are already a TT customer, ther's no possible reason why you should have to pay a connection charge or need a new number. And if you already have broadband, you are already on an 'up to 8Mbps' service. The adviser you spoke to requires 'retraining'...No free lunch, and no free laptop 0 0

I'm on the £14.99 phone and broadband package, soon to be £18.48 with TalkTalk. I'm thinking my best option is to return to BT for landline and go with plus net's value package (total cost 11.54+5.99=17.53). Only a small saving, but I do get to leave TalkTalk which I think is a plus. I'm happy with the 10GB download limit at plus net.
My question is how do I do this? I want the phone line to go to BT and the broadband to plus net. I assume I need a MAC code for the broadband bit. Is there an order in which I should do things? eg ask for the mac code before telling BT I want to move to them? Will Tiscali/TalkTalk issue a mac code if they haven't been told the line is moving from them? I realise I may be without service for a couple of days but don't want it to be longer than necessary.
Many thanks for any advice; I'm sure lots of others are considering something similar.0
