Sister sent hers over a week ago and thought she will give them a call to see if they received it. They said wait 3 weeks then check for progress if no reply has been heard in that period.

Just want to know how soon others heard their decision after sending off their application.

Sister received her child benefit letter back and a letter stating to expect an answer within 10 days
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

If anybody does remove the netinteligence I would really recomend that they install K9 Webprotection instead as no matter how much you think that your kid will not do it they will as soon as a mate sends them a link and you are not there

K9 is very powerfull and really easy to use and can also block suspicious sites that may contain malware so it really is a great idea for a family computer

    Link - http://www1.k9webprotection.com/

also Microsoft do their own family safety software that does not block as much but when something is blocked they will get a button to click on that lets you enter the password and allow the site or if you are not there it lets them click a button and email you a link that you can use to preview and then allow the site.

I also recommend K9 webprotection. Easy to set up and you can adjust the settings. You do need an email address (hotmail, yahoo etc) to receive the activation code. It is free.

Don't know if these laptops have recovery discs in case of harddrive/software failure. I always recommend creating a recovery/backup discs.

Hi all. I'm new here but I've "lurked" picking up a few tips here and there for a while. I saw this thread and just had to say thank you so much. I've been using a borrowed laptop since moving house over a year ago with every intention of getting a new one so my 3 girls can use it for their homework. But I can never quite get the pennies to stretch as far as I need them to! I read this, phoned for the application pack which arrived 2 days later. I've filled it in, sent it off & shall wait to see what happens next.
    Thank you again. :T

that's exactly the problem I'm having too. My son only uses this laptop in the sitting room where I can see it and has a limited number of bookmarked sites which he's allowed to use so I think netintelligence will be uninstalled soon too.
that was the first thing i did delete netintelligence and all the other rubbish that came on it,then upgraded the memory to 4gb(i used the money i was putting by to buy a new laptop) now its rockin

Just received my card and ordered from XMA, the Toshiba but thought you would all like to know they are also adding to the package for free a Lexmark wireless printer and a 2gb usb flash drive. I was going to order from them anyway but am really pleased with the added extras. My son will be so happy on Monday when it all arrives.
WATCH THE PRICE OF REPLACEMENT INKS on the lexmarks they are very expensive, and compatible inks dont work very well if at all.just a warning.if you can afford the kodak ESP range printers are super cheap on inks around £19 for both colour and black and print out really good photoes!personally i would opt for the xtra year brodband its worth about £180 to buy and you can pick a printer up off fleabay for pennies now.

  • Just for info...! I've just received my Samsung R519 from Misco & it is fab! The kids love it. Misco are excellent - delivery within 2 days and when I rung their helpline with a query, they answered quickly and gave me the answer I needed. I recommend them highly!
Thanks to Martin & the team for letting us know about this scheme !
