Anyone else seemingly stuck in a backlog with this? My documents were returned to me on 10th Feb,letter stated 10 days to hear if you have been successful. I rang today to be told my claim hasn't even been looked at yet. A friend who applied 2 days after me has already recieved her card and pin and has ordered her computer. I am beyond frustrated and wish I hadn't told my son about it,as every time he gets home from school he asks if I have heard anything. The guy I spoke to barely spoke english and just kept telling me 'backlog' and 'wait' (couldn't tell me how long) and when I asked him for what reason you would be turned down he couldn't understand the question. Is this a lottery, and even if you fit the criteria, you may still be turned down? I am glad it has been smooth for most of you on here but how I wish I had kept schtum from my son
I will feel awful now if he doesn't get one.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -

Sister received her child benefit letter back and a letter stating to expect an answer within 10 days
Sister received her entitlement letter yesterday, now she is waiting for the barclaycard. Naturally she is overjoyed. :j
She mentioned that on the letter there is an actvation code for the software. Which software is this?Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problemsWell at least i learn something on the way

I wonder if they are up to the job of delivering them?
Maybe it took them by surprise and they can't "deliver" the goods now?0 -

According to the techie thread, the Samsung R519 is best, closely followed by the Toshiba one. Everyone seems happy with the Samsung so far.
XMA do the extra year on the dongle but only 2GB per month allowance. They also have the free printer and the internet is with TMobile.
They seem to deliver pretty quick and be an ok company.
The other main contender seems to be Misco, who don't have the printer and have 3Mobile for one year only but with a 3GB per month allowance. They only have the Samsung - I'm not sure if XMA have the Toshiba as well...
Both companies seem recommended by those who have used them on here. The other companies seem a bit less reliable imo.
You need to check 3 Mobile and TMobile coverage in your area as that may be the deciding factor.
If you aren't having the dongle, or you can get either in your area, then XMA is better as you get the printer.0 -
well we are very very happy with the Samsung R519, the software that comes with it has been pretty pants tbh and we've removed most of it, but the laptop itself is fantastic.
I've already seen a difference in my sons homework too....before his old laptop broke he willingly did all the extra optional work (they get stars for doing the extras and treats at the end of term) when he had to do his computer homework at break times he did only the bare minimum because he wanted to go out and play.
Since getting this one he's done loads more homework and even uses the primary resources website to do stuff off his own back0
