Sister wants me to add/remove programs on her laptop when she gets it. Are we restricted to what we have on the laptop due to the fact it is provided from the grant people?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

The machine is yours, as surely as if you'd walked into a shop and handed over a bundle of used fivers.
If you had to get them to do a repair, it could come back re-initialised to what was on it originally, but otherwise there are no stated restrictions and (AFAIK) no checks.

I have read a good part of this thread and there seems to be a number of teething problems but also a lot of ungratefulness. You should thank your lucky stars that there is such a scheme for England, there are many others in the rest of the United Kingdom who would only be too glad to have the opportunity that has been aforded to yourselves.

Ungratefulness? I think you must be reading a different thread.....I can only think of one post that I would consider to be ungrateful, I think the vast majority of posts express say thanks!

Well ordered the zoostorm computerfrom Misco on tuesday and it arrived here today at 10am! Set up is ok though there really isn't much to do BUT I am having major problems with netintelligence. Changed my password from their own and now it won't let me log on!!! Phoned the helpline and they told me to email them. Got to wait for them to email back. Can't even uninstall it as you need a password for that too..lol
Hopefully the helpline will sort it all out for me, fingers crossed :(

Hi - I received my card this morning but haven't yet had the award entitlement letter. I phoned Home Access and they said it's on its way. Anyone else had this problem?

I just applied for the computer but no internet so have been given up to £400. Hoever, does anyone know if there's some flexibility in Comet, for example, to choose your own laptop up to the £400 grant?

I would prefer less software and perhaps a bit more RAM, if possible, than is currently being offered on the standard packages.

    Thanks for your help :)
I would love to be lazy but can't find the time:exclamati

This was replied to a few pages back, but to summarise, everybody is grateful, but sensibly want the best deal and for the things to work.
In my case, we got a nice laptop, promptly, and it works, and my kids are using it to do school work.
    Fantastic!
However, I've reported back that for me the 3 wireless internet is a bit flakey, but others are happy with it.

The answer is no - the amount buys you one of a set of pre-defined packages. I guess the companies have invested time and effort into setting up their working systems and are not prepared to customize them.
I think some will add memory for an extra charge, or you can add your own. This was discussed earlier in the thread, so you may need to go back a few pages.
