I ordered ours on Tuesday, it has just been delivered this morning, no notification beforehand.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to get it up and running, this should be fun.0 -

Apologies if this has already been asked, but I can't find it.
Ordered the Samsung R519 from Positive IT, over bank holiday weekend and it arrived yesterday (via DHL, no advance notice).
So, charged it up, connected to my router and online, followed the initial set up instructions.
It wouldn't let me install windows updates (running with Windows 7). And Netintelligence was blocking everything, even when I had given it permission for certain sites, and site types. So that's already uninstalled.
Tried to add games, using turn on and off windows features. Says some components not installed properly, and asks for re-start. They're still not there.
Are we not allowed basic card games on these things?
But, more importantly (my son can live without Free-cell), windows updates.... and I also tried to install Windows Messenger (we sometimes communicate this way when I am stuck at uni for hours) and its the same error message.
Microsoft help says its either .net framework or Office 2003 and it can't be the latter as it's not installed. Followed their instructions, and it appears to have now updated the .net framework updates.... but it still wont' do the other six.
Any ideas, I am about ready for throwing it through a window (or seven....!)
Hope someone can help. That its me doing something really daft, and not just hat Microsoft released yet another version of Windows that doesn't work properly...0 -

Hi,
I had the exact same problem. Like you I tried lots of uninstalling and restarting. In the end I did a complete recovery. Lost all info but to be honest not much on it anyway. All is fine now.
PositiveIT said they do not block anything but this is the third time I have heard of the same problem which has been solved by a restore.0 -

Is that the best software-wise? I know they need microsoft word as they have never had a computer so don't have it already. My sister wants me to do it for her as she has no way of looking at all the sites (no computer at all) but it's all too much!0 -

Well I carried on for another after my post, then I gave in before I lost the plot.
Asked my brother to try Sunday, who's far more patient than I am, he had the same problem.
So we did a complete restore, as nothing other than desktop backgrounds and things had been changed anyway.
This time round, very early on after restore, it asked about Microsoft Security Essentials that it definitely hadn't asked the first time, despite me following instructions sent with the laptop.
All updates downloaded and installed correctly this time, including Live Messenger. Not a problem and didn't take that long. Net Intelligence was still turned off after the restore, and everything seems to be fine.
My brother thought the same as you, that something they did at Postive IT before sending out created the problem,
At least it's solved now - moral of the story, if the "fixes" dont' work first time, factory reset it! Glad we hadn't got any stuff on there though!
So everybody who's getting one, make sure that your updates are up to date! before you do anything....0
