Can you let us know what as gone wrong with it?
Sure, it was the graphics card we think as the screen kept glitching and was all pixelated in blocks and whilst not previously mentioned it was getting slower at doing things and IE kept 'Not Responding', after shutting it down it wouldn't launch and we had to log out then in again for it to work.
They also said in the email that all their laptops are Black, as we asked, and it was Silver when it turned up, should have known then they were rubbish.
Whilst it's appreciated by all that receive it and our kids do love it for what they use it for, it is after all, a downgraded laptop which I believe is now discontinued by Samsung (The original minimum Samsung Spec one on their website that is, which is better than these that they 'give' away) so how much stock of these do they actually have, if your thinking of getting one you may be better waiting or asking what will be replacing it when they are out of stock of this.0 -
How is this a need ? when everyone has managed to post on this forum???0

Hi Guys Just received my daughters Toshiba Satellite with very nice Lexmark scanner/printer/copier from XMA only took 36hrs but turned it on and there are pre-installed passwords for the learner account and parent account, we cannot change passwords as it says "no drive! please insert floppy disc or flash usb". Came with very limited documentation and certainly nothing about Passwords, has anyone else had this with the toshiba? Will ring up XMA but thought i could ask on here first save the pennies as we are "In Need" as this laptop is for my daughters education Fishie0

Have to say that since most of us 'in need' seem to be very limited with PC knowledge (otherwise we might have built our own!) I find it strange that the companies seem to be making things so hard to just simply turn on and use the things.0

Thanks very much - thought I was going mad! So much for saying its all set up out of the box.0 -
Yes, it does seem a bit of a hassle. But still worth the hassle I guess.0

Obviously make up your own mind but it would be nice to be informed if it even comes under The Sales of Goods Act etc.... or some mention of what to do if you do come across any problems with any of the suppliers.
It must do as we got the card/pin today and the letter said we need to keep the credit card for 12 months in-case of any refund.0 -
well i rang Xma who were very quick to answer and extremely helpful got the passwords seems like someone forgot to put the user guide in the box and there's no recovery disc which was supposed to come with it but hey daughters happy and actually doing her homework, i must recommend getting the laptop with the free printer as my daughter has missed so much from not being able to print off simple things like historical pictures, hopefully we should see a dramatic improvement in marks due to having the necessary equipment at home instead of this stoneage desktop which my daughter has officially given me for my course work.If anyone has same prob with missing parental password let me know i'll pass it on.0
