RedRuby - good luck for your move on Mon - we left our house during a real blizzard when we moved before Christmas.

Big woooooooooo-hooooooooooo _party__party__party_ here as we have had our offer accepted on the flat we both love - subject to survey so fingers crossed that it's fine. I'm sooooooooo thrilled:j:j:j

Onion, bacon, chicken and potato hotpot cooking (with two fat cloves of garlic in it!). Am salivating at the thought of it :D
Took my mum into local town this morning and had a nice mooch about WITHOUT the kids - bliss if I do say so myself. Town was dead, hardly anyone about. Some stupid twit on the way home though decided to try and nearly T bone the side of our car because the stupid @rse thought an ungritted side road would be perfectly safe to brake late on  Cue lots of shouting and mouthing from me  He was lucky not to hit me. I don't think the council are gritting the roads as often either  The main roads were still too icy and slippy and that was without any real snow it them. I suspect they are being stingy with it in case the forecasts of this lasting another few weeks is true.

Had friends round late this afternoon with all their kids. Made some Millies style cookies and didn't manage to chuff them all myself for once :T

Molly - hugs for you xx
JackieG - ouch you poor thing with your infection. I saw crawl under the duvet - housework will always be there no matter how good or bad you feel. Hope you feel better tomorrow.
Haribo - sorry you've not been able to get to Ireland but it's the right decision. Still a bummer for you though xxx

    Have a good evening everyone.

    Evening Gang,
still white and icy in North Kent we have some more on the way as well. I have just dug this gadget out to put on my walking stick. My cousin sent it to me from Calgary ,they are quite used to the stuff out there. Its called an AMG Ice-O-Grip and looks like a set of teeth on a thick gripper that scews onto the end of your stick.I must get out tomorrow as I have to pick up a prescription for my medicines from the Drs. Only have enough to last until Sunday.Still I will be careful and take my time .DD and OH and three little ones came at lunchtime She and the tribe walked down into Rainham to go to the Tesco Metro there .They phoned and said did I want anything so I got her to get me an extra loaf and some milk. They then walked around to my house about five minutes from the shop with the extra supplies bless them. The boys and I played hangman and they helped to eat some of the Christmas chocolate biscuits in the tin, they are helpful like that :)Then after they went I sat and did some knitting and watched a dire film on Channel 5 ,where do they find them ?
Supposed to be back at college tomorrow for my history fun course, but I think it will be cancelled as the roads are too bad.I wouldn't drive to Gillingham at the moment anyway, far too dangerous.DD has to go into work tomorrow and Saturday in Chatham but she said she will try and get a train or bus she won''t take her car wwhile its like this. DGS Danny couldn't get into his work today either and he's so worried as he only started his new job on Monday, but its at Shepards Bush in west London and normally takes at least an hour and a half when things are good anyway.Southeastern are running a very restricted service at the moment so he is getting really stressed today.
It all seems to be doom and gloom at the moment ,I can't wait to see the first snowdrops and daffodils start to sprout up then we will all be a bit happier I think. Oh well time to go and have some dinner I have a nice bit of steak & ale pie and mash and mixed veg for dinner tonight with a yogurt to follow.Hope all are safe at home in the warm
    take care everyone

    Happy Birthday nmlc.

Gemma - your rabbit sounds hilarious in the snow!

Haribo - what a shame you missed out on your family gathering, darned weather.

MSD - glad you came back to the thread so fast! Hope all is ok. x

Both schools open here, so that was great, and I managed to get to work on time despite driving very slowly in the icy conditions.

Work was fine, have sorted out my hours for the next coming year, and also managed to get a days leave for the 13th so I can go to the Boots 75% off sale!! Not been before, so hope there is some decent stuff left.

Kids had leftover chilli and rice for tea, I had rice with mixed veg and cottage cheese (am addicted to it, have it on most things). Been back on the diet since Tuesday, so this is only day 3, but I am feeling really hungry right now for something sweet, and have used up all my syns for the day. Because I'm due on at the weekend I think, just want to eat and eat.

    good evening everyone

Hope you had/are still having a good birthday nmlc

We haven't had any snow to talk about since Monday morning, have had lovely blue skies and sunshine, but has it gone? has it *******! ice, ice baby :rotfl:. Down our close the snow is still as deep, further into town its nasty frozen slush, bit fed up with it now! I only live about mile and half from walk and do not drive, so its been a no no to having any time off due to weather. Office are very lucky as we all live locally. Hmmmmm Boss only made it in for 1st time today though. She has been working from home though, we have had emails fired at us every 10 mins :D

Sorry you are missing your family get together Haribo, I live away from my side of the family and I know what its like not to see them.

Big (((hugs))) for all those who are feeling down, this time of year is bad enough without this weather isn't it?

DD has arranged christening date for the baby so have that to look forward to in March, nice to have something to look forward to....please say the weather will be better by then

OS wise, not a lot going on, OH has been out all week so I have not really cooked for myself, loads of soup, not HM I'm afraid, I don't seem to be able to make soup, it all seems to taste the same, bland and boring, think I need to look up some recipes. House has stayed fairly tidy, have just been skating, sliding, slipping in from work, eating then faffing about and going to bed early.

Here's hoping we all have a good day tomorrow, indoors or otherwise xx
whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

    Stopped smoking 20:30 28/09/11 :D

Well we ventured out into the frozen wastes of West Berks and it wasn't so bad once we got out of our uphill-cul-de-sac. Saw the odd ballet dancer and tried not to do the same on the slippery pavements - we need a skating smiley at the moment.

Was really surprised (and relieved) to find bread and milk in Sainsbury at 5pm. Dropped supplies off at DD. Getting back wasn't so easy as we had to back out of top of cul-de-sac and the car didn't want to - a scary five minutes and very grateful OH was driving.

Wanted to make a pun about British grit but leetle grey cells have turned a chilly blue and hibernated.

Does anyone else here get really sleepy in this weather? Is there something in our genes that makes us want to hibernate? I am also much hungrier than normal so wonder if those same genes are telling my body to lay down fat just in case:snow_laug. Well it's a good excuse ;)
My message to that greedy wunch of bankers:
Debts another fine mess you got us into!

If you see somone who hasn't got a smile, give them one of yours.
