take any info that you can off the site you found (oops, almost named it there LOL) and use anything 'individual' to search by. For example his e-mail address, former employers etc. And try different combinations. If you use google you can also look for images (found my ex husband's employer that way - he has a very common name but wasn't wearing a paper bag in the photo :))

Yes, was amazing what people could find out about me if they wanted! I've changed my name since :D

  • I'd leave any response by you and the kids for a week. Just to be sure you really do want to make one, and not feeling pushed/rushed into a decision.

"MichH - that must have been a huuuge shock after all those years for you too and what a great Mum you must have had, you're very fortunate and it's lovely that you realised this as well. She must be very proud of you and your brother. You've also mentioned something that I've wondered about too - are there any relatives out there somewhere. I know I often wonder this about myself, as I was adopted, but then that's another story! lol"

A huuuugge shock! It's very strange even after all this time I still love my Dad, but I dont know if I like him as a person and I dont have any respect (know that sounds awful!) as he left us in a very cowardly way. My Mum is dead proud, she's great. Although I have 4 half siblings I dont really think of them as being my 'family', they are like having an extended family, I still have my Mum and my brothers who I grew up with who are my actual family.

Yes, there are lots of relatives. I also know alot of them lived near to where we lived and didn't bother with us (Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc.).

Good luck with your kids, they are really quite grown up to make a big decision like that to say 'no' on Facebook.
  • I read on the CSA board that the UK has an agreement with some counties re CSA payments collection. I'm not sure what countries are on it, but the good people on the CSA board will be able to tell you.

Must be the time of year for missing fathers to ask to be their childrens facebook friend. My ex suddenly turned up on my son's facebook last week too. My son is 23 and his father hasn't had anything to do with him since my son was 8. Strange really as we don't know why he suddenly decided to contact him. As soon as my son said he had just landed this great new job on 50k, his father suddenly popped up and asked to be his friend:D
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

    Morning MichH

I know what you mean, I would find it hard to look on them as relatives too. I don't think it is awful that you don't have any respect, after all what did he do to earn it? Nothing. Same as my OH, I look on him now as merely being a sperm donor, no more, no less.

Missmoneypenny - thanks for posting - my goodness what a shock that must have been for your family too!! What was your son's reaction then??

Anger. I have never seen him so angry as he is normally very calm and happy. I think boys see things differently to girls. A girl might have had some pity for him. My son doesn't even remember him as they never had a bond.

Laughter, at how badly fitting his false teeth were. My ex could never see the point of cleaning his teeth, but I think he has now found out now why you should. Tbh, I would not have recognised him if I passed him in the street. He looks 20 years older than he is.

Your children will know who has been the real parent. Try to get the CSA to sort things for you and give them as much information as possible. Post on the CSA board on this site for advice. Then just do what you have been doing and get on with your life and enjoy your children while they are still young.

My cousin's father turned up on her doostep after 20+ years of not seeing her. At first she felt sorry for him, but then he decided to move near her as he was getting old. Now she is fed up with him and didn't even invite him over for Christmas. She said she can see why her mother doesn't like him.
