Here you go Sally. I will do as my friend says and remind her tomorrow when she is in the office and get back to you.It would depend on the law where he consequently married in Dubai relating to Bigamy. I don't think he could be done for it here as he hasn't remarried here. Will check. She can divorce him without consent now though.
If she wants him done for Bigamy, that could be a lot more complicated and is a criminal offence here. I don't know the answer and have no resources here. It depends on what the law here says too, but it might not be chased up, so she has to bear that in mind. I know exactly who to ask. Remind me tomorrow.0 -
Thank you Deannatois
That's a good suggestions, I'll bear that in mind!.

Send a copy of your marriage certificate and a letter from your solicitor to confirm u are still married.
I don't know which country he's living in but usually there are voluntary groups around who will help u find out about the laws in that country even if they officially represent another civil interest for that country (i'm thinking looking at child kidnapping groups etc). Wouldn't cost u anything at all.0 -
Thank you again.
Daska, the only thing is, he isn't Muslim, he's a Christian.
Sorry, I'm dredging the bottom of my memory for what a girl I was at school with was telling me 20 years ago!!!!
AFAIK if he married a Muslim woman in Dubai he would have had to convert to Islam. If they're both Christian it's a different matter but my understanding is that the polygamy laws don't apply to Christian marriages as their not governed by Sharia law. Either way round he's potentially in trouble with the authorities in Dubai (couldn't happen to a nicer chap by the sound of it LOL) And of course he could have lied about his marital status or religion regardless of which category he should have fitted into...Eat food. Ooooh Daska, well done you!
I just need to confirm now where the actual wedding took place and if it was Dubai, then I still have some hope!
Thank you so much!

two suggestions
You presumably remember his details (birth date etc), you know the approximate year and if you can find out her name that might well be enough
first, they might have married here, in which case you might be able to find a record of it via Ancestry or similar
second, they might have married elsewhere and your best clue so far is Dubai. There's a link to the court service on the link I gave you above so it might be worth e-mailing to ask whether it's possible to check if their marriage was registered there.Eat food. Not too much. Good Morning All
Thank you Daska for your suggestions and your help.
It would seem that he's changed his mind judging by the email that has arrived this morning!
He says in it that the woman in the photos is his fiancee and that he's hoping his divorce in the UK will be finalised soon! Shame he hadn't thought about doing that first, before he disappeared all those years ago.
He goes on to say that he loves his kids more than life itself and that their mother made it difficult for him to see them and he hopes they won't hate him!!! Unbelievable!!

Hi Sally, Who is he saying this to? Your lawyer or your friend? He really is unbelieveable. It shocks you how many lies people tell at times doesn't it0
