It’s Friday and today is the first day in a while that I have woken up very tired but positive about the next few months. I had some girlie friends over last night whilst DH was working away, I spent too much on pizza but it was worth it. DH spent probably a bit more than me where he is but he seemed to be fairly happy when I spoke to him last night.
So we have 2 ½ weeks until payday, we have the Biggin Hill airshow tomorrow, DS’s birthday party on Sunday and DS’s birthday on Tuesday so a busy time all in all the next few days. The tickets for the airshow didn’t cost us a penny as DH got them free as he works at the flying club, we are taking a picnic so it shouldn’t cost us too much tomorrow. The party we are get McDonalds for the kids but there is only a few coming so should be a fairly cheap day too.
I have bits to finish off for the party today but I’m not planning on spending a lot.
I am looking forward to DH getting paid this month, although it will clear the overdraft with a little surplus I am going to try my new budget out and see if I can make it work, so that when DH gets paid the month after we won't be in the overdraft as much.
Happy Friday everyone.0 -
That all sounds lovely ....family time and fun x0

Crash! I have been absent for two weeks and everything has gone to pot and doesn’t look like it’s going to get better.
We are playing catch up with everything now we’ve cleared the car loan and the credit card but this next month or two we’ve got servicing and MOT’s for both cars as well as Car Taxes for both cars
We broke the terramundi as we need the money out of it to survive until payday on Thursday
I feel like such a failure and hate this
We seriously need to get a grip or we will sink and be in an even worse position than we are now.
My task of buying food as and when we need it turned out to be a bad decision as did putting petrol in the car as and when it needed it
I have done a challenge with a friend of mine to see who can make the most money by the end of the month, so that’s something. My main challenge is to get 100 items on e-bay, so need to get a crack on with that…something I could sort tonight.
Oh well, I made my bed as they say. No point dwelling on it, just got to get on with it and try to make the best of it. We did make the right decision taking out the loan, just made it at the wrong time.0 -
So.....grab your pad and pens, your calculator and a cuppa, and get brainstorming as to how you are going to get through this, but also how you can avoid it again in the future.
Car MOTs and servicing come around with alarming regularity (mine is in today being done!) so you need to have provision for it in your budgets, otherwise this time next year you will be in the same pickle as you are in now.
Good luck with the ebay challenge - with a bit of focus and effort you can get a good bit in there, I am sure.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
just to say i agree with Hypno...maybe after the next few months putting a bit aside for those big bills will prevent this from happening next year.
good luck whatever you decide to do.0 -
I must confess, we need to get our car serviced as we're planning on selling it, and that is one thing I have never gotten round to budgeting for:o
I budget for car tax, MOT just gets paid when needed, but servicing - oops. I do agree that it is something that needs to be budgeted for though as I am worried by the sound of our brakes that we will be shelling out also:eek:
Live and learn I suppose. Don't crumble (although I know that feeling at times!) but stop and reassess, you know what the problem is, you need to find a way of dealing with it for the short-term, then when that's sorted, work out a way of dealing with it longer term (I may have to take note of this myself!)Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

Despite the little set back, I’m sort of feeling back in order not total control but in a better position than I was yesterday. I do still feel bad that I haven’t planned for the cars which normally I am good at but hey ho…we move on.
So my very nice friend and I were having a talk and as she is trying for another baby she has volunteered to have DD in September until she goes full time at school in November so I can get a part time/term time job. As such I have now applied for a job, fingers crossed I will get at least an interview.
I have three watchers on e-bay on 9 items I put on there, I still need to find more carp to flog but it’ll be a start if they sell.0 -
Good luck on the job and ebay0

Morning peeps, slept badly last night and I have got a bit of a sore neck and feel very groggy as a consequence. Painkillers duly taken so hopefully they will kick in.
On a positive note, I withdrew £7 out of DH’s Paypal account, so that’s a start. Only got £93 to make now as I am aiming for £100 on my side of the challenge. Surveys done this morning, waiting for More Than to be paid on Quidco as that’ll be a nice £56 to come if it does.
DH gets paid tomorrow, thankfully! I am aiming to save some of what he gets paid to go towards my service/MOT then when he gets paid the month after I will add it to that and get my car done and likewise for DH’s car the month after and the month after that. I know I’m talking gibberish but to me it makes sense.
I am planning another car boot next month, I made £57 the other week which helped a bit but I need to try and make more than that this next time.
Have a good day everyone, off to get motivated.0
