We have received the offer letter through the post for the Loan, I have signed it, just need DH to and then I can take it back to the branch tomorrow…We should hopefully have the money in the bank by Wednesday (fingers crossed). I have already set up the DD for £30 to come out every month, once I start work I can then up this to £50; according to the Snowball calculator this would reduce the term by 6 years!
I have decided that I am at some point going to decorate the kids’ bedrooms over the summer holidays but I am going to do this as cheaply as possible. A friend of mine is selling a lot of Ben 10 items for £30 and as DS likes Ben 10 this will complete his room once it’s painted. DD is very into pink but as she’s got the smallest room in the house pink walls would be too much, so I plan to paint her room cream or beige and have pink accessories…need to E-bay and car boot as much as possible before the summer holidays as this will help fund it.
Feeling very positive about things now, just hope it lasts.0 -
Nice to see the positive post and hope everything goesalright for you x0

Update time, nothing much has been happening lately…for a change, it looks like life might be settling down again. Roll on the end of the year.
Had a phone call from the mortgage people yesterday which put me in a panic, that was until they said it was a customer satisfaction survey and that everything to do with the Loan was okay…panic over.
First transfer for the ‘Loan’ has gone out into my savings account, so I can adjust the total once the money has gone into the account and the necessary people paid off.
On the grocery side of things, I am trying a different tactic (again), I normally buy a months worth online and then top up as I go along during the month; this month however I am trying to just buy when we need things to see if it will make any difference to the pennies when DH next gets paid.
I haven’t filled up the car either this month as this is another thing I am trying out to see if it costs me less over the month to put petrol in the car as and when I need to.
Meal planning….this has definitely gone out the window since all the hassle started and is a must that I need to get back on top of again.
DH is lodging away on the odd day, which although I and the kids do miss him it gives me chance to catch up with the ironing again. In a way it is a good thing that he is lodging away the odd night as the drive is tiring him out, 5 hours per day and I would hate for him to have an accident.
So far so good; just need to sort a few bits out.0 -
Morning, Thursday already and one step closer to weekend.
DH isn’t having a good time with his company on the expenses side of things. DH’s fuel claim for last month was nearly £800 and they only paid him £500 back…long story but suffice to say DH isn’t happy and is going to be having words with his boss. He said he’s not being out of pocket and funding the company just to travel 5 hours a day to site for them.
The ‘Loan’ hasn’t gone in the bank account yet, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will go in tomorrow as the sooner we get it, the sooner I can get the finances back on track.
Off to see a friend today and have a mooch around the charity shops.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Oooh curious about OH's expenses - sounds like it's the company's fault - £300 difference though - that's outrageous!:eek:Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

Basically it states in the company handbook that when the fuel claim exceeds a certain amount then the employee loses the mileage claim and they then subtract this amount from the fuel claim and that is what you get paid. DH has mentioned it to his boss and his boss has said he's going to look into it and get back to him about it. Case of wait and see I think.0

I have had to transfer the remains of the savings over to the current account, my theory is that if we are careful not forgetting that DH will use some of it for work and there are still bills to come out, when DH gets paid again we shouldn’t be in the Red too much. I think it will take us a few months to get the current account back up to scratch and then we shouldn’t use the overdraft as much as we will know how much is left in the account each month.
We have approximately 3 ½ weeks left until the summer holidays start and DH is talking about taking a few weeks holiday, so some money is going to be used there.
SOA when we are totally straight will look like this:
Contact Lenses CareCouncil Tax£11.00Insurance£152.00Home Insurance£219.11Savings/Loan overpayment£29.25Food£50.00T.v license£300.00My Car Insurance£20.78Mortgage/Loan£35.31DH Car Insurance£924.75Broadband, t.v & telephone£48.61My Mobile£43.32Petrol DH work/me£17.00£500.00
I know it looks a lot of money for some things but this is the cheapest we have been able to get it down to at the moment. I am aiming to increase the savings a bit more in order to build them up again so we have a reserve for holidays etc.0 -
Just wondering, what's that insurance underneath council tax?Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63
