  • Hi Jo, it does help in a way but sometimes I hate it, at least we only really need to do top up shops this month.

The shopping has been delivered and was less than they said it would be, total cost £227.88 which leaaves me with £72.12 remaining for the month of which I need to spend a bit today and get a few extras from Tesco.

Sounds like you have plenty of plans there.
  • Woo hoo! It’s Thursday and nearly weekend. DH got paid today :) so I have managed to sort out the budget for the month. Looking at it on paper we are in the red by £13.48 however, there will be DH’s expenses and Child Benefit to go in over the next few weeks so will be back in credit again IYSWIM? Plus anything else that goes in to the account will be a bonus.

We need to be really careful not to overspend this month big time, not the best scenario but we are playing catch up from last month’s pay.

I have totalled up the 20p’s in the pot, I keep these aside in case of emergency during the month and we only have £8.40 there so not enough to bank yet. I can happily report that I have not broken in to the demi-john yet as much as I have been tempted and the money pot still remains intact.

The kids and I were supposed to be going to the Hornimans Museum today but it would mean and hour and half’s trek across London to get there and I really cannot be bothered, so I have texted my friend to say that we aren’t going, so that saves us £20 there; the local soft play centre has opened up again so I’d rather spend £10 in there and sit down with a cup of coffee, so I’ve agreed with the kids that they can go there instead.

I am going to go see my friend today too and get some fruit and veg from the market, this will save me going next week too.

I ended up spending £11.94 in Tesco’s yesterday of which £3.97 was on groceries…aaarrrggghhh!!!! Not on at all as I have wasted £7.97 on magazines (2 for the kids) and a paper! Which leaves £68.15 left remaining for the month.

Will update later and I will not spend unnecessarily!

I've been getting magazines out from the library, saves a fortune buying them, they have kids' ones as well so may be worth a look - doesn't always help though when they're pleading with you in the shop LOL!:D

Budgeting is looking good for the shopping:)

Good call on the sacking off the museum - think I would have been inclined to do the same considering money and time, sometimes it seems like a good idea when you organise it but when you have the trek facing you with the kids, the local cup of coffee at soft play which is much closer seems the infinitely better option!

I'm sure the kids will enjoy the soft play area much better and the bonus is you get a brew and the kids get worn out..lol

Well the kids don't seem to fazed about not going to the museum so that's something, however I did get badgered in to buying them a toy each whilst we were out, so £6.90 spent there from the charity shop and they seem pleased with their choices so can't complain too much.

On the grocery side of things, total spent today £3.71 all in all not bad and £1.30 in change went in the pot.

Off to feed the monsters, back later x

ETA: A letter has just come through the door for DH from MINT to say that if he doesn't request a new card once the old one expires they will close his account...I think this letter will get squirrelled away somewhere quietly :)

Have woken up feeling fairly positive today, so that’s a good thing

I have redone the finances again as the t.v licence renewal notice came through yesterday so has been added to the list of things to be paid…sigh! It seems like it’s never ending sometimes! Never mind…with this we will be roughly £158.98 in the red altogether so I need to find some way of recouping this money over the next four weeks.

So back to my plans again, I need to pull my finger out and get some selling done and some surveys done.

I have relisted some fabric on e-bay so hopefully that will generate some money and I need to sort the rest of the fabric out and get that listed too.

The rest of the day today is planned as follows:
    • Clean upstairs and change our bed - Done
    • Wash up - Done
    • Sort dinner out - Done
    • Washing and hang out to dry - 3 loads done, 2 left
    • Tidy lounge and hoover
    • Sort out fabric to be cut/sold
    • Throw kids in garden to play and cause havoc outside - Done
That should keep me occupied for a little while.
ETA: Today will be my first NSD of the month too, so I am off the starting block :)

Could you pay the TV licence monthly by DD? Ours costs about 12.12 a month.

That is something that I was contemplating doing but wondered if it would cost more in the long run?
  • Okay, have bitten the bullet and gone for it. T.v license is not set up to be paid by direct debit, first payment will be at the end of the month initally £20.82 then dropping down to £12.12 after 6 payments.

I have adjusted the finances accordingly and as such we are now only £34.30 in the red for the month, which I can handle.

I have also done some meat shopping for the month and spent a grand total of £19.99, which now leaves a grand total of £44.45 in the shopping budget.
