  • Bit late with an update but I nearly fell of the wagon :o

I promised the kids some Lego in exchange for selling their mega bloks found a load on e-bay and have bid and won it, I am using their money not ours so feel quite pleased with the amount that they will get and as the seller only live ½ hour away I can collect it rather than pay for postage (which would have been out of our money not the kids).

Anyway the reason why I nearly fell off the wagon is that I was looking on Debenhams website earlier and have found some boots on there that are just brilliant and nearly spent £110+ on them but stopped myself; I am in need of some boots or shoes and as it’s my birthday next weekend I am going to use any money I get to put towards them and ask DH and the kids to chip in a bit too.

We may finally have the boiler fixed by tonight too; the man is coming with the part late this afternoon, so need to find the cheque book.

I have a confession to make too…I haven’t done the surveys or any housework as such this week. I must get to grips with this lot and get it sorted! :(

On the plus side….I have decided that some more of the material that my mum sent down will go on e-bay as I cannot make any cushion covers out of it but someone might make use of it :)

Off to change the beds and hoover upstairs.

Sounds like good news about the boiler, that'll be a load off your mind not having to replace the whole lot!

I relate to the shoe thing as I nearly did the same with some Office shoes but restrained myself LOL!:o Good willpower there:D

    Hi Tea,

gosh sounds like you've had rather up & down week. No point me trying to dissuade you against buying shoes, as you know I'm all about treats for feet ;)
  • Monday morning and seven days to payday. I have checked the bank account and we have £75 left of which £63 was for the top up shop leaving us with £12 to last the week of which £3.05 is due to go into the account from Amazon.

Major no spending this week. I have £6 in my purse that needs to last; I need to get some milk and a cheap loaf this morning to see us through to pay day and major shop to arrive.

The bad thing is though that even though we have tried and tried even harder this month we are still going to be in the overdraft :( this is not good, DH’s pay will be reduced from next month by £140 and if we can’t crack it this month than where will that leave us??? Sorry just having a rant. I know it doesn’t help that the boiler went that’s just one of those things but it still makes me mad.

Oh hum, on the plus side DH is on half day holiday today as he wants to see DS at climbing club, we are also taking DD to doctors to discuss her speech and see if they think she needs anything doing or not.

Anyway back to Flylady today, I didn’t do very much of it last week and it shows.

    Have a good day everyone.

Well think of it this way: at least you are forewarned through some good planning of the amounts involved and know that it's likely you'll go into the overdraft; sometimes things happen you can't plan for and I then call that 'damage limitation' if you like. Makes it sound terribly dramatic and a lot worse than it is, but it's how I refer to when you know something is going to happen (ie dipping into the overdraft) but you control it as much as you can.

Have you already booked the top-up shop? Is there any way you can reduce it down (says she who has tremendous difficulty in doing the exact same thing!) My challenge for the next four weeks is to buy my fruit and veg from Aldi as I know it's gonna save us a few pounds, I know it might not be much but every pound counts?

    Good luck anyway x

  • Morning Jo - Have done the major shop online for when DH gets paid on Monday so I guess I could go through it and see what we really don't need; I tend to buy the fruit and veg from the market, it usually only cost me £10 and lasts us 2-3 weeks I would go to Aldi but we haven't got one local to us and the nearest one is on a dodgy estate an hours drive away.
  • Thought that an update was muchly needed as I have been AWOL for a few days, been Flyladying as wanted to catch up with that.

Have just checked the banking online; I’ve been avoiding it for the past few days as I have been expecting it to be heavily overdrawn and it isn’t, we were overdrawn by £50 on Monday but checked today and the child benefit got paid in to the account and after everything else that was due to come out we are £25 in credit. Okay it’s not much but we were heavily overdrawn this time last month, so it has been beneficial to use the Isa money to pay the overdraft off.

I have to remember though that the money for the boiler will be coming out once the man pays the cheque into his bank, so that leaves us £130 down when DH gets paid on Monday.

I haven’t totalled up my NSD’s this past week or so and I should really get on and get it sorted. I am in dire need of 20 this month so need to pull my finger out.

Got the Council Tax bill through and should get in touch with them about seeing if we can possibly change it to 12 months, the last time I enquired they said no as we pay by DD but nothing lost in asking again I suppose.

Now I feel like we are getting somewhere.

Great that yoy feellike you are getting somewhere...it's a good feeling. You seem to have everything under control there as well..well done ...and a nice clean house to boot.
  • Thank Taxi not too sure about being in control though...that's debateable lol The house is slowly coming together but much more decluttering and tidying up needs to be done.
