Onwards & Upwards - Part 2

Happy New Year everyone. I lost my old diary somewhere along the line so have started a new one and as it’s the start of a new year this seems like the perfect time to get one done.

So what does 2010 hold in store for us here? Well DD starts ‘big school’ in September and I am trying to find yet another way of holding on to the money we have.

DH and the kids bought me a money pot for Christmas and providing I don’t end up dropping it like last year, I am aiming to fill it up with £2, £1 and 50p coins and this will be used for a massive over payment on the credit card or half of it will be used for Christmas.

My main plan this year is to declutter the house more and e-bay, charity shop and car boot some of it.

DH gets paid on the 15th of this month and apart from a top up shop we won’t need to buy very much.

Quidco has released £7.49 so that should hit the bank account over the next few days.

I looked over my old plan for 2009 and what I wanted to get achieved and was pleasantly surprised that I did well there and completed just over half of my list. I am going to do a new one for this year too.

So Onwards & Upwards Part 2 here I come….

So we are into January already and count down until Christmas  Despite there only being 12 pay days for DH until then I am determined to make what he is earning last us as long as possible between pay days.

My plan for January is as follows:
    • Get new curtains for our bedroom (got £100 voucher for Debenhams from mum for xmas and £100 in cash too) - Done, pick up in 7 days
    • Get new net for our bedroom window too – putting ours in the dining room to replace the ripped one. - Done
    • Move suite and hoover - Done
    • De-clutter more junk from dining room/conservatory
    • Sort through kids’ clothes/my clothes and charity shop them. Would e-bay but have too much hanging about and just want rid! - Completed
    • Get Cushion Cover Face book page and website up and running and hopefully sell some to generate some money.
    • Restart with the surveys - Done
    • De-clutter and clean the kitchen
    • De-clutter and clean our bedroom including washing the window down – This is in the process of being done - Done
    • Get on top of the ironing and keep the hideous pile down!
    • Meal plan and stick to it
    • New curtain track for DD’s bedroom due to curtain pole being ripped off the wall by DS and won’t screw back in again – Don’t ask! - Got just needs putting up :)
    • Stock up on toiletries for the year – I did this last year and only ran out at the beginning of December :D - Done
    • Aim to have 15 NSD’s.
    • Carry on not using the car as much and walking to school/pre-school - Done
    • Save any change and try not to break into it.
I have got DH’s birthday at the end of the month and he is desperate for an connector thing for his Ipod for his car as the thing he’s got is crap, so as he ended up not having the present we bought him for his 40th last year the kids and I are going to treat him and buy him one.

This year I am planning to only spend £100 each on both kids for their clothes (less if I can) not including shoes and school uniforms as both children ended up with £60 each for xmas and mum has bought them new coats already this year should be fairly easy on that side of things.

The only other major thing that is coming up this year is my mum’s 60th Birthday party and as it is up North we will be staying in a hotel. Mum has asked for a vase for her to put her lilies in (her favourite flower) so I am going to look out for one that I can also get engraved.

We are planning on going camping again in the summer and as we’ve already bought the stuff last year this year should be fairly easy, we just need another light and possibly a cool box.

Today’s aim is to get the decorations down and put back into the loft and change our bed and get the washing up done and put away.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hi Sparky,

Haven't considered this one before, will have a look later.

High Street Vouchers are always worth it in my opinion :)

  • Morning, very cold and frosty out there this morning. Sunday and the day before most people go back to work…DH included, DD goes back to pre-school tomorrow and DS goes back on Tuesday (inset day!?!)

Once I have the house to myself again I am going to open all the windows for an hour and let some nice fresh air blow any cobwebs and stale air away.

Managed one NSD yesterday, which is unusual for me at the weekends so definitely off the starting block there.

My back decided to give out again over Christmas and I was back on the pills again, I am now going back for Physio on Tuesday in hope that this will sort it…I think it was the drastic change in the weather that caused it.

Should be a fairly easy day today, I need to go to Tesco’s for a few bits and then we are taking the kids over to the airfield so they can ride their bikes and then we are catching up with our friends at the pub for a pint.

    Have a good day everyone.

Monday morning and what a cold and icy one it is again. Roll on the warmer weather, I hate the cold.

Took the kids to the soft play centre yesterday and then we came home and had dinner, DH took the kids out on their bikes whilst I was sorting dinner and we ended up not venturing to the pub, did manage to spend some money yesterday but not as much as it could have been :D

Things I need to sort out this week:
    • Clothes – Charity shop/bin/clothing bank - Bagged up - Done the lot went to the clothing bank...still got more though
    • Buy kids new clothes – using their money - Done
    • Change beds - Done
    • Clean oven
    • Measure our bedroom window - Done
    • Order curtains/net for our bedroom
    • Move suite in lounge and hoover
    • Bin any unneeded paper hanging about
    • Sort shoe rack in hallway – general dumping ground and needs a de-clutter - Done
    • Bank any loose change counted up before new challenges started - Done
    • Sort finances out
    • Dust our bedroom – terrible, hasn’t been done for a year :o - Done
    • Meal plan for the week
    • Do at least 15 surveys
I am hoping to keep this momentum up.

DH did a massive amount of ironing yesterday, so the pile has halved, although I haven’t added it to the list I am aiming to do at least some of it this week.

Today should be a low spend day today too.

    Have a good day everyone
  • More flaming ice today, it was forecast to snow here overnight but it hasn’t thankfully.

Managed to get a lot done yesterday in between coming and going; I have got Physio for my back this morning, so that’ll be good I hope.

I am doing a chicken casserole for dinner tonight; chicken is out of the freezer already.

I am determined that even though I am out and about again today, I am going to de-clutter the dumping ground that is the shoe rack. I will probably get more stuff for the clothing bank/charity shop there too.

Should be a NSD for me as I am not aiming to spend anything at all :)

Will update later if I can, I hope everyone has a good day.
  • Went to Physio this monring and the reason my back 'went' again was because of a number of factors which are to do with my spine and not anything I have done, so I am back doing the exercises again.

In order to cheer myself up I went to Tesco's and spend £3 odd, I could have save £1.20 of it but I bought their BBQ ribs from their hot deli counter...whish I'd not bothered as they were kack! That'll teach me.

On the upside I did find 20p in the bedroom this morning which has been put aside to build up and I counted up the change in the demi-john so that I have a starter total that I wanted so £11.46 saved in there towards Christmas.

Off to get DS now from school, we aren't using the car as we are walking so that helps.

Lula – Thanks for popping in and Happy 2010 to you also :hello:

Hope everyone is enjoying the snow today, I’m totally and utterly and completely fed up of it now and want it to go away

Nothing much to report this morning, both kids are off their relevant schools due to the snow. It is very thick here; kids and I took a walk to Tesco’s to get some groceries and all the way there and back DD whinged about disliking the snow and DS proceeded to jump in every single bit of snow that hadn’t been touched.

DH ended up walking to the train station this morning, so heaven only knows what time he’ll get home this evening.

I have three chores that I want to get done today and they are as follows:
    • Clean bathroom - Done
    • Wash up - Done
    • Sort finances - Not done will do tomorrow
If and it is a BIG if I get chance in between entertaining the kids I will try and get the rest of the washing finished and dried.
    Have a good day eveyone.
