Morning everyone, hope that those that have managed to get to work/school have done so safely and that those stuck at home aren’t being driven insane with boredom or losing too much money.
DH walked to the station again this morning, he left London at 3pm yesterday afternoon and arrived home at 5.30pm but he still had to walk up the hill to where we live.
DS has no school again this morning and DD is at home too. I don’t think that either of them will be going back until at least Monday.
So on to today. I have finally got round to totalling up how much is owed after our few months lapse of enthusiasm on the debt busting side of things and I am not happy with the c.c being as big as it is
So my priority today is to sort the finances and see where we can make an overpayment when DH gets paid on the 15th.
I also have of course, the washing to do and the washing up…there’s always housework isn’t there? That should keep me busy for the majority of the day.
Today will be a NSD and so will be tomorrow.
Have a good day and I will update later once I have sorted the finances out.0 -
Just a quick update, I am declaring today a NSD
my second one for the month.
Have done the washing up and am on my third load of washing/tumble drying, the tumble drier is making a thumping noise so I think that that might be on its way out; it is 5 years old has sometimes has been constantly running so not too bad for it’s life I guess.
I have been through the finances and have made an overpayment of £20 to the c.c, probably not something that we can afford to do but I only made the minimum payment on it last month so I feel slightly better for doing it. I need to carry on and go through the finances again now that I have the spreadsheet up to date and see what needs cutting back on/getting rid of.0 -
A couple of things need to get done today:
- Change DD’s bed, she had an accident just before it was time to get up - Done
- Wash up - Done
- Do some more washing - Nope
- Sort rest of finances - Nearly done
- Throw kids out in garden to play with snow - Done
Positive things that have happened this week:- 3 NSD’s so far includes today
- Have walked everywhere even when car was accessible
- Been to Physio and back feels better now I’m doing exercises for it again
- Have made an overpayment to c.c
- Updated finances spreadsheet
- Haven’t overspent apart from once (Tuesday)
- Haven’t finished off the finances
- Did meal plan as should have done
- Haven’t done all the list I set myself at the beginning of the week
- Still not done ironing <slaps wrist>

Morning Tea,
I'm housebound & slowly going insane, found myself watching daytime tv & that's a slippery slope. Heir Hunters followed by families emigrating to Australia. Money & sunshine 2 of my favourite things, & I have neither at the moment .
You might not be happy at the CC BUT just look at how much you've paid off the family loan :j - & I seem to remember that had emotional impact on you as well so I think you've done brilliantly :A0 -
Thanks Lula, as for the loan; after what happened at the wedding I fully expected SiL to turn round and demand the full lot to be repaid including the £5k that she said she'd let us off paying.
Small mercies but we don't see that side of the family now and only keep in touch with DH's other sister and BiL and his mum and my mum
Thanks for the encouragement you're a star hun. xx
Forgot to add - I hate daytime t.v too it does my head in.0 -
Yippeeee, it’s Monday…I didn’t think I would ever say that but I am happy, DS is back at school (9.30 – 2.30) and DD is back at pre-school

Fairly pleased with myself last week but need to achieve even more this week.
The tumble drier finally decided that it had had enough and stopped working totally so I need to buy a new one, Comet have a sale on at the moment and if I get it via Quidco I should get a reasonable amount back too.
So plan for today is as follows:- Wash up - Done
- Change beds
- Move suite and hoover lounge
- Dust our bedroom - Done
- Sort something for dinner - Pizza out of freezer
- Meal plan for week
- NSD
DH has decided not to buy his travel on the c.c now but via the current account as he said that what is getting paid off isn’t as much as what’s being spent on it  I explained to him that we are paying over what the minimum each month and sometimes we pay even more. He’s still not convinced.
Dh gave me a £2 coin last night which went into the money pot and I’ve been putting the odd bit of change in the demi-john.
I also explained to DH that now DD is fully potty trained and no longer in nappies this year should be a fairly inexpensive apart from her school uniform and renewing of bits of DS’s uniform and shoes for them both, we aren’t paying out £10 every week on nappies and wet wipes etc.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Afternoon all, well after getting my car stuck in the snow at the bottom of the road and it taking me an hour or so to get it moved and back outside the house again my big plan for today went to pot!
The plus side is that the washing is almost done and despite no tumble drier is drying nicely on the radiators.
DS finishes school in an hour and I am not driving there to pick him up. He has started to go to the junior climbing club but we can’t make it there today because of the snow and ice locally. He’ll have to go there next week instead.
I braved Tesco’s today instead and topped up with the groceries so I do not need to venture out to the shops again this week, just drop the kids off at schools and get back home again.
I think therefore I may manage 5 NSD’s this week
When I was sorting out the finances the other day I found out that the last time I filled my car up was the 15th December and with Christmas and the snow etc I still have ½ tank of petrol left a month later
When we get back later, I am going to see how much of my list I can get done.0 -
Hello Tea,
well done on saving so much petrol - that's fantastic :A
DDs school opened again yesterday but still no sign of gritting so there's still a load of snow & ice & it took me 6 attempts to get my car into the driveway to the garage yesterday
.
Good luck with finding a bargainous tumbledrier & may it bring you much cashback too
