Happy September everyone, count down to Christmas now and there is another half term in October to contend with in between.
Things to deal with this month:- DH’s car needs an MOT – he’s going to get this done in Norwich as it will be impossible for me to do it as I need my car to go to work and he’d need my car IYSWIM? So £54 needed there.
- Both Car Taxes are due - £400 for both needed to be found.
- My friend and her sons are coming over from S.A for a visit, they are staying at our house and one of her sons is having a 4th birthday that weekend too.
- My mum is coming down for a visit and bringing lots of goodies and treats

Once I get my first wage paid in to the bank I will have some idea of how much per month I will be getting and can adjust the spread sheet accordingly.
Also I got an e-mail from Quidco to tell me I have a massive £2.50 being paid in to the bank
not a lot but it helps. I am waiting for More Than to validate and pay my cash back for Home Insurance I took out in May; I just raised a query as its £55.00 and not something I want to lose.
I will be glad when this year is over and I can start afresh next year. I need to be better organised both home wise and financially next year so that this part of the year isn’t such a struggle again…I never learn and always make the same mistake every year!0 -
Following up on my post today and yesterday I thought I should update my list of chores for the week:
- [STRIKE]Washing to be finished [/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Ironing done and put away [/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Change all beds - Kids done[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Clean bathroom[/STRIKE]
- Hoover through - Downstairs & stairs done
- Clean glass
- Polish
- [STRIKE]Clean fridge [/STRIKE] Cleaned hob instead as was very dirty
- [STRIKE]Clean microwave [/STRIKE]
- De-clutter the dining room area
- [STRIKE]Meal Plan for the week[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Make sure DS is sorted for school on Thursday [/STRIKE]
DS is back at school tomorrow and I am planning on walking round there in the morning, I need to get his bag ready and check that he’s got all his other bits sorted.
DH is away tonight
I was going to do the ironing tonight but as I have already done it and put it away like a good girl I am going to try and de-clutter the dining room whilst talking to him on FB chat when the kids are in bed.
Fairly productive day all in all, just a few things to do the rest of the week which should be easy to do as DS will be in school and DD amuses herself with her toys and the t.v.0 -
Moring peeps, it’s Thursday today and the first day back and the start of a new year at school for DS. I have remembered that I ordered some school stuff for the kids from the school office £55 to be paid today and I have school lunches to pay for….Blast! There’s always something you forget isn’t there?? Not a NSD for me today.
On the upside DS’ old school bag is ready for today and I just have his p.e kit to sort.
I need to try and get as much of my list completed today as possible as I would like tomorrow to me (and DD of course) DH is home tonight
Dinner is sorted for this evening….we have some fresh filled pasta and garlic bread that’s been lurking in the freezer, so we are having that with Bolognese sauce.
I’m going to have a look at the finances again possibly tomorrow to see if I can tweak it anymore before payday…doubtful but worth a look.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Quick update before I get on with some more housework.
I paid lunches for DS £72! but he's now paid up until DD starts lunches at school after the October half term; I will them pay them both up to Christmas.
We are offically skint next month but hopefully the month after won't be so bad.0 -
I have had a very nice phone call from DH
his boss has agreed to give him back pay for evening meals bought whilst away, so DH’s expenses this month will be £762.00 his boss said that he’s likely to end up coming out with a bit more than that but DH can’t see how; so based on the above figure, I now have a dilemma.
The car taxes and MOT for DH’s and my cars will come to £454 roughly, I have paid £72 for DS’s school lunches and £55 for both kids school bits, the credit card is up to £1242.00 due to summer holidays and DH being away in Norwich.
Here is the dilemma….Do I?- Pay the whole lot off the Credit Card?
- Use some of it for the car taxes and MOT on DH’s car and the rest for the kids school bits??
- Or do I split it between the cars and the Credit card??
Help! I’m stuck!

Morning Diary land,
Dinner was okay last night, not fantastic but okay. Dinner tonight is Hereford Sausages (sausages with cider, bacon and mushrooms), mash and peas and possibly carrots too.
DS enjoyed his first day in Year 2 but said he couldn’t remember a single thing about what happened during the day
He woke up twice last night and both times switched on the bathroom light so I’m very tired this morning as a result.
Anyway not a NSD today as today is my last day with DD before I start work and she starts school, so we are going to do something nice…I don’t know what yet but something nice anyway. Possibly go out for lunch too for a change.
DH is working at the flying club tomorrow so that’ll be a NSD for me; I'm going to clean the fridge that I was going to do yesterday
My list of chores in finished for the week, which puts me in a good stead for next week.
Still unsure of what to do with DH’s expenses but have had some great responses from you people
I have until DH payday to decide so any more suggestions I get will all add to the final decision.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Good news on DH's expenses, will have a think and suggest an answer later - in a rush as DS napping!
DD1 starts Year 2 next Wednesday which she's really looking forward to:) LOL@ DS not being able to remember anything - you take an interest and they're not fussed!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

Happy Saturday peeps, hope you are all well? We’ve got lovely sunshine here today so I expect DH will be back late from the flying club this evening as most people tend to make the most of the good weather and do lots of flying

A fairly busy day for the kids and I today, we need to get some bits from Tesco’s, Boots and go to the Opticians for Dh’s Contact Lenses, all necessary spends and included in the budget so I might still get my NSD today as long as the kids don’t badger me for anything.
This afternoon we are going to meet up with a friend of ours, she has some horses near to the flying club is and both of the kids have been hankering after seeing them for ages, so that should take up some of the time this afternoon.
We ended up not having dinner that was on the meal plan for yesterday, we settled for pizza out of the freezer instead. We took both kids to the local aerodrome so that they could burn off some energy on their bike/scooter and by the time we got back and they’d had a shower etc it was way too late and we couldn’t be bothered then; so Hereford sausages in on the menu for this evening instead.
We have also decided to stop the visits to the pub until we are in a fairly good position to go again. With paying things off that we have with the loan and everything else that’s cropped up since that’s needed paying it just isn’t viable for us to go to the pub and spend the money we don’t have in the first place. I just have to keep reminding ourselves that we can’t afford it.
Anyway…Monday I start my new job
and I am nervous but also excited about meeting new people and having adult conversation that doesn’t revolve around my kids and other mum’s kids. I don’t mean to sound horrible but I’m sure you get the gist of what I’m saying?
Anyway onwards for today and time to get the kids motivated and dressed. I need a shower and then we’d better get on with the chores.
Have a good day everyone
