  • Morning,

Wednesday and payday for DH, I have checked online banking and it doesn't look good for this month; I knew this month was going to be a toughy but there's not a lot I can do about it so just got to plod on and see where we are nearer next payday. Next month will be different.

DD has got her Speach Therapist coming this afternoon and I have some friends coming over this evening and the shopping is getting delivered this afternoon too.

NSD for me today and I need to go to the bank to put in the change I counted up last night and the kids money out of their money boxes.

    Have a good day everyone.

Flippin' heck woman, 6 years off being 40 - I'd go for "4 years over 30":D

In all seriousness, I do think about things in a similar way, oddly (or not?) I focus around when DD1 starts secondary. She's 6 now, I'm 32 so I think of how old I'll be, OH will be, the rest of the kids will be, because that's my focal point, because we're equidistant (sp?) between two secondary schools but are just in the catchment for the significantly worse one, so my hopes centre around being able to move before it becomes an issue IYSWIM, getting back into work and maybe even having enough to put down for a deposit on a house - so I understand where you are coming from with that one.

About this month being difficult, I think sometimes we have those 'turnaround' months where things will be harder before they get better. Good thing is (I always say this!) you are in the position where despite not being able to make it all good right away, you knew how it would be and can plan accordingly, and that's a huge part of the journey.

  • It’s Friday, the end of another week and the end of DD’s first week at school. My lovely friend is coming to visit with her boys today and although the boys are going to visit their dad tomorrow, I get to have lots of cuddles with them and also spend some quality time with my friend.

The laptop has gone bust…DH isn’t sure if it’s a software issue or a hardware issue. It’s not been very well for a while now and we’ve been desperately in need of a replacement for a year or so. DH is going to try putting the ‘Recovery’ discs in and seeing if that’ll fix it; anything is worth a try if it means we can keep the laptop for a while longer.

Finances don’t look too good but nothing new there, just got to eek it out as much as possible. I think e-bay might be in order next week and see what I can flog of DD’s clothes that don’t fit her anymore.

I’ve been reading a lot of Hypno’s Diary and the challenges that she and others have been doing of Memorygirls. As much as I would like to do those too I don’t think it’s for me just yet, so I think I need to restart my weekly list but I’m also going to set myself a weekly challenge of sorts starting from Monday.

Have done the meal plan for the month although I think it’ll need a bit of tweaking to get it sorted totally.

Got to sort the conservatory this morning and make it less of a death trap for our visitors lol….it’s in dire need of a sort anyway and this gives me the perfect excuse before work this morning.

Have a good day and weekend everyone and I’ll update on Monday once I have thought of my challenge and my weekly list.

New week, okay its day 2 of a new week. I didn’t get chance to update yesterday as Mondays are always hectic here.

On a good note, the laptop works again :) it was a software issue in the end and DH had to use the restore discs to get it back up and working again. The downside is that I’ve lost the finances spreadsheet I did as well as a couple of much needed other bits. I hope I have copies on the desktop pc that I can transfer over.

I have meal planned for the week so that’s one less thing to be done.

My list of chores for the week looks like this:
    • [STRIKE]Washing[/STRIKE]
    • Clean bathroom
    • Hoover through
    • Change kids beds
    • Ironing - Priority
    • [STRIKE]Get DS a swim hat for school[/STRIKE]
    • Clean glass
    • Polish
    • De-clutter DVD/book case
My challenge for this week is to get back on top of the ironing as it is now getting out of hand and needs sorting.

Next week DH is working on site in London so no trips to Norwich then but the week after he’ll be in Norwich Wednesday to Friday.

DS’s climbing club have agreed to move him up to the next club (it’s taken months of asking) it is slightly more expensive per session but does work out good value as it for two hours not one.

Next week is Payday for me…I thought I’d never say that again and I will have been in my job for one month, just hope that my colleagues like me and that I get to stay there a bit longer.

Off to get the kids dressed and ready for school. Have a good day and I’ll catch up later.
  • Wednesday and half way through the week; I had a restless night last night, my friend who watches DD for me whilst I go to work text me last night to say she wasn’t feeling well, needless to say this has left me wondering if she’s going to be able to look after DD today, in which case I urgently need to try and find someone else.

I didn’t do half of the things that I was going to do last night due to worrying about today, so once the kids are at school I need to try and get as much done as possible to be back on track with my list.

Will update later once I plan out how today’s going to go.
  • Thursday :) and DH is home tonight…can’t wait. Ended up being able to work yesterday so all good, reminded my friend that next week is payday of which we are both rather thankful of.

Have checked the banking online and no new surprises there, DH didn’t get paid his mileage for last month as the Director that signs them off wasn’t in the office, so we are approximately £300 down; he has been told that he’ll get it next month so we’ll just have to be extra careful.

Meal planning is going okay so far.

Going to get some fruit and veg from the market today and go and see my friend at my old office.

I picked up a book yesterday called ‘The Family Manager Takes Charge’ and it’s sort of a household self help book that uses a business approach to looking after the household. Looking through it there is a lot in there that I can use towards sorting the house out but like most self help books there’s always some elements that you can’t use as it doesn’t apply to you.

Checked Quidco and finally my cashback for home insurance has Validated. Just hope that it clears for payment shortly as it’s a good chunk of money that will come in handy.

Have paid some of the expenses payment off the credit card and DH’s car is booked in for an MOT on Friday afternoon so I can then apply for both car taxes next week.

I feel that I am in control of several things at the moment but not sure that they are in the same hand IYSWIM? Certain elements are all balancing quite well but I feel that I am juggling them but haven’t quite got them juggling in the right way.

Right off to get the kids dressed, more pondering today I think on which direction I am taking with the house etc.

  • It’s Friday! And my week hasn’t quite gone to plan on the housework side as much as I’d like. I need to get my act together if I’m to attempt to get an organised household and finances to boot…oh well there’s always next week to try again.

DH is working at the flying club tomorrow, so I’m aiming to spend a few hours doing the ironing then and catch up with some other bits of housework that might save me some time next week.

There are a lot of positive vibes floating around the forum at the moment and this has surely got to be a good thing, I like positivity its infectious and well worth going with the flow.

    Sorry I’m rambling again.

My plan today and tomorrow is to get the finances and house in some sort of an action plan. I have 2 hours this morning to get a list for the house sorted and tomorrow I can get going on the finances again. I need to get the spreadsheet off the desktop computer so that I can get that back up and running again.

DH’s car is going for it’s MOT today so I get to drive his car for the day :D £54 spent there.

Right off to get motivated and get the kids sorted for school. Have a good Friday everyone.

  • Saturday and I rudely awoken at 5.50am by DD! Doesn’t that girl ever sleep???

Anyway, hopefully I’ve got a friend coming round after lunch today, her eldest daughter is in the same class/year as DS; my friend is in some dire need of adult conversation hence her coming here :D

I’ve been thinking about the house and do I de-clutter the seriously dire areas where it is more likely to be noticed that it’s been done or do I just start at the top of the house and work my way down?

MOT done on car £54.85 in total.

Off to check banking, have a good day everyone.
