Hi Jo, my mum arrives the Friday before Half Term and leaves on the Monday of Half Term. Very glad that my pay can get sorted, I must get the necessary bits off first thing Monday morning.0

Hopefully that milage will be in the bank very soon, and you can get on with October much easier.

Couldn’t post yesterday as I think that there was something wrong with the forums and by the time I could get round to posting I had to go to work. Anyway I’m here today!
So went to bed last night with the knowledge that our CB is going to be gone in 2013 okay it’s three years off (or just about) but it is still very much needed in this household and is a big blow to us. This news has given me more determination to try and get us sorted before it does hit.
I need a plan for next year and hopefully be able to earn some more money by upping my hours at work or in another school.
Yesterday was fairly uneventful, had to get some bits from the shops but didn’t spend unnecessarily and only bought what we needed. I forgot some bits, so need to go back today.
10 days until DH gets paid, can’t wait because when he does then I can get to grips with the new budget for October. I have a few bits that I need to pay for out of Avon, Christmassy bits for DH, I will need to get some more for the kids etc between this months and November’s pay. I am aiming not to use any of December’s pay for presents but just for food/drink.
Right off to get motivated, have a good day everyone.0 -
Half way through the week already! Where is the time going?!?
DH is in Norwich today over night but back tomorrow, the site manager is desperate for him to be up there full time still but DH isn’t keen, so we’ll see what happens on that score.
9 days until DH gets paid, I’m checking the bank account on a daily basis at the moment because anything I can do to avoid transferring any money for as long as possible is a good thing. I know that there is one DD due out before payday but it changes every month as to what date it comes out.
Have been doing some thinking about our current financial situation and am trying to come up with a sensible solution that hopefully will see us in a better state this time next year. One option is that we don’t use my wage for everyday living but use it for the unavoidable expenses that come out through the year like car taxes, birthdays etc. The other option is that we throw my money at the debt as much as possible next year and try and reduce it.
I think the overpayments on the loan will have to wait a year until we are steady on the finances and we know where we are each month with my wage coming in each month.
I’ve been thinking about the grocery side of my budget too and I usually order it to be delivered but include the delivery charge in the budget, I’m not sure if I should do or if I’d be better off going to the supermarket myself and saving on the delivery charge? This needs more thinking I think.
I’ve been musing over the money side of things for a while now and will need to post what I’m doing once I’ve sorted it in my head as once I’ve got it down in black and white I can keep a better track of it.0 -
Morning diaryland spend most of last night thinking about things. I know it’s not even the New Year yet but I at least now have some idea about what I want to achieve next year.
My main aim is to clear the overdraft with my wage and the child benefit (whilst we have it) and then plow everything else into clearing the credit card. This will initially go into a separate account until it has built up and then I’ll transfer it over.
When DH’s extra mileage comes in, I am going to put that money aside as this will pay for birthdays in 2011.
I am going to try and reduce the grocery bill, we are probably spending in excess of £400 per month and I want to get it down to £250 per month.
I am going to look for more hours once the better school jobs start next year as this will help with trying to clear more of the overdraft and credit card.
I am limiting my personal monthly spends to £80 and petrol for the car to £100, the spends bit won’t happen until next year as we have Christmas looming but I’m aiming to keep the petrol to my new limit.
Once we are on top of that lot, the year after we can look at making overpayments to the loan and paying off SiL.
Right that’s that sorted, I just need to keep referring back to it so that I know where we are and keep motivated.
On to today:
DH is back tonight and I have housework to do and go see my lovely friend who incidentally is retiring next month. The harvest festival is on at the school and as much as I would like to go by the time it finishes I will have to go to work and I really am not in the mood to sit there for an hour to watch it.
Checked the bank account this morning and the last DD came out, so have had to transfer some money over to cover us. One thing I am aiming to do over the next year or two is to build up the reserves again.
Right off to get motivated before we are late for school, have a good day everyone.0 -
It is never too early to be thinking about what you are going to achieve next year - believe me, I have been thinking about it for months :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Wow ..you have been thinking and planning. It feels so much better when you have a plan.
regarding the CC is it interest free?...if it isn't then it would be better to pay money off as you get it rsther than save it as that will save you interest0 -

DH got a deal through on a credit card he's not used for ages and is going to balance transfer it over to them as it's 0% until September 2011
I don't plan to save up enough to pay the credit card off in one lump sum, just doing that with the overdraft.0 -
ok...just didn't want you to pay too much interest so alls good there.0
