I`m on WS5 which was 6% below standard tariff before yesterday`s "cut".
WS5 tariff is NOT being cut.
If thats the case and standard tariff has been cut 7%, are BG trying to say that WS5 was actually 13% below standard tariff because now it`s still 6% below.
Talk about smoke and mirrors, headline grabbing and generally conning the masses.0 -
I'm also on WebSaver 5 & did a price comparison earlier and, based on my usage, WebSaver 6 would actually cost me £1.83 yr more than WS5 ! So, just take all the "headlines" about price cuts with a pinch of salt if you're already on one of the latest tariffs.Started the new centuary £18,000 in debt : July 2008 we're now DEBT FREE (apart from the mortgage!) :j
2011 Update: Taken a car on finance - first serious credit commitment in a long time but as were more financially secure than in the past it was a calculated risk - 4 years and counting !0 -
Which is precisely where Peter Duckett's moan falls apart.
Would you like to explain?
I think most people are in agreement that:
their new services cost more
people do need a price cut on gas for what looks to be the winter months only

In my area standard prices pre price cut vs WebSaver 5 looks like this:
Standard T1 7.203ppkwh vs WS5 T1 5.678ppkwh - A difference of 1.525ppkwh or a 21% discount against the standard tariff.
Standard T2 3.632ppkwh vs WS5 T2 2.686ppkwh - A difference of 0.946ppkwh or a 26% discount against the standard tariff.0 -

Though he ment that but that is not avalble to me on websaver 4
can you explain this then
Just looked at the Tier 2 Standard rate for gas in my area is 3.203p where my Web Saver 4 is 3.041p
Well 6% of 3.203 is 0.19218 and = 3.010p which means tier 2 gas on websaver 4 is under 6%0 -
The £40 saving on smart energy so a BG employee told me other day is on 13th month and that's for dual fuel otherwise its £20 for one0

Again in my area:
In my area standard prices AFTER the price cut vs WebSaver 4 (inc VAT - previous comparison excluded VAT) looks like this:
Standard T1 6.952ppkwh vs WS4 T1 6.446ppkwh - A difference of 0.506ppkwh or a 7% discount against the standard tariff.
Standard T2 3.203ppkwh vs WS4 T2 3.009ppkwh - A difference of 0.194ppkwh or a 6% discount against the standard tariff.0 -
I will appoligise for that on as those prices where not avalible yesterday im guessing they must have updated that late afternoon0

Judging by the lack of paragraphs I don't beleive that was an official post. Why don't you get an official representative put on here like BT do?
This price cut IS significant in that I hope it will prompt other suppliers to make cuts themselves. With regards to earlier price cust I do not believe the earlier reduction ins BG's gas prices was really a cut since the reduction simply brought them back in line with other suppliers.
To anyone on here, who therefore has internet access, I would say look at the online tariffs. There is a table online that shows all of the big six have an online offering which is around £300 cheaper. Just need to be careful of the restrictions.
I have accepted a deal with NPower where I have to pay £20 per fuel if I leave before end of March 2011, it was the best offer at the time and if I'm going to change I want to be saving more than £40 to make it worth your while.
Finally in the spirit of MSE if you have decided to switch check the cashback websites to see what extra you can get from this. I got £40 for joining NPower, but some other suppliers have even higher cashback. IF they are the ebst price in your area then you might as well cash in.Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0 -
