I've read the thread but still none the wiser.

    I'm on WebSaver 2 -

How does this affect me? I thought i was already getting a 6% discount, but the site says i will have a reduction?

What is the difference between all the WebSaver 1-6 tariffs anyway?
  • From my email from BG
As a Click Energy 5 customer you'll benefit from an average 6%** reduction on your gas prices- so this drop is great news for you.........

........Save a further £150 off your bills with EnergySmart™ and say 'Goodbye' to estimated bills***...........

......Plus we'll also give you a free electricity monitor

I hope you don't mind me asking, but it isn't clear on the webpages I've looked at. Is the EnergySmart a new Tarrif or just an option within my existing tarrif?

I will be looking into comparing suppliers again soon, but was wondering if it would be worth opting in for the BG EnergySmart in the meantime. I wouldn't want to tie myself into a long contract, but quite fancy making the additional savings they mention and getting an electricity monitor!

    Any thoughts/experiences?

    Thanks in advance

It's an option - it turns your current tariff from a quarterly billed/statemented one to a monthly billed/statemented one. (You can still pay by DD to spread the costs, or pay in full monthly (including by DD))

They also send you an energy monitor, and if you are still with the tariff after 12 months they have been offering a small amount of credit.

    PS I work for BG

The smart energy isn't a tariff. I was never told it a contract but they did say that you only get the £40 saving if you are with them on 13th month when it gets paid

No it`s a gimmick and it`s not available on the cheapest tariffs.

What Do We Not Like About EnergySmart?
Although there are many good reasons for choosing EnergySmart, it has one disadvantage:
It’s not available on all British Gas tariffs

I wouldn't say its a gimmick as such, if it helps those monitor there usage hopefully it can stop some of thse posts my direct debt is £40 for dual fuel but now they want £120 a month etc

£40 is also not to be sneezed at plus energy meter you get. I do all meter readings every month any way, meter not bothered about have two none work, £40 saving plus you get more info on your usage on there web site, like predicted consumption

People should get on the cheapest tariff they can find, and read their own meters and then pass the readings on to generate a bill.
Then you wouldn`t get energy providers putting DD up from £40 a month to £120.
You cannot rely on these providers to read the meters every quarter so enter your own readings
    don`t accept their estimates.

So, with these price reductions, is it now best to submit a meter reading ASAP then?

  • Thanks for the responses. I can't see any harm in turning on the EnergySmart option for now.

    Cheers again
