  • Hello!

    Can I join to? I'm a stay at home mum to my little darling who's 1 in 10 days!!

    I'm generally a really organised person but still struggle to get anything done when my son's awake! He's also at the stage where he's crawling/cruising/ almost walking so is in to everything and I can't turn my back on him for a second! :)
  • If you have things that need to go upstairs, I put items on each step and NOBODY is "allowed" to go upstairs empty handed. It does not take long to get everything back upstairs and put away. All part of earning pocket money:T
    ;) The toast proposed at our wedding was for "health, wealth and happiness". Our family may not have the health and wealth but we make up for it with the happiness:D

    We do that too - always try to make every trip upstairs or downstairs count - if there's something that needs to go up or down, take it when we go throughout the day. There's always someone wandering up or down the stairs for something.

    I'd say a basket at the top and one at the bottom would work just as well, rather than one to carry up. Just instruct everyone to take something from whichever basket on the way up or down.

    If I'm carrying a basket of laundry either way, I usually glance around in case there's anything I can take to put away. I'd say frequently a basket of clean clothing going upstairs has other stuff tucked in it to go upstairs also.

    Hi all, would love to join in if that's OK :j

    I'm staying at home currently since we wouldn't be any better off if I worked part-time, and OH works changeable hours so can't get anything really... I've got a four year-old boy at school, and a two year-old and one year-old at home. Hoping to do a lot of Ebaying this year! We are drowning in Fisher Price and Ben 10 lol. I suffer with mild depression so my routine changes a lot, I tend to get out more and more done in the house when there's more daylight... need an SAD light I think. So we go to playgroup as and when.
    I've been hanging around the OS boards and got up this morning with a 'new year, new start' attitude, so this is what I've done today;
    -cooked off a load of mince and quorn mince, separated it into veg chilli, veg bol, meat bolognese and mince and gravy, then put it into containers and into the freezer;
    -baked a cake using oats and raisins, it's come out a bit squishy!
    -cleaned out the cutlery drawer! I hadn't done this since we moved in, urghh!
    -put a chicken curry in the slow cooker, nom nom;
    -sent OH out for Really Useful boxes, I'm obsessed with them, they stack so well and they don't break when the kids decide to jump on them :rolleyes:

    thanks for the tips so far, looking forward to seeing what other SAHMs do :T
    I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

    I tried flylady once, and I didn't really get on with it well. Got stuck at the first hurdle of "shine your sink" as my kitchen sink isn't stainless steel, it's some sort of rubberised stuff. LOL And if I didn't get everything done in the day (which happened quite frequently), then I felt disorganised and frustrated and got even less done.

    I think rather than doing a lot of the cleaning daily, I'm going to set weekly goals. So I can make a list of what I want to achieve that week, with some that will be routinely every week. That way, on days things are going better and I can get more done around the children, then I can do so, and not feel so badly on days that I just can't seem to get much done. Especially as there are always daily tasks we have to do regardless...

    There's a flylady thread on here - some of us work; some are SAHMs. and I cannot remember 'shine the sink' ever appearing on our lists. We're on the old style board..

    3onitsway he won't go anywhere near anywhere with a cafe, so that rules out our local Morrisons, Tesco and Asda. Sainsburys is fine for him, but the car has been out of action so we have to get the train/bus to the next town. At least it means we eat up what's in the freezer cos I can't bear to go shopping! Oh, he is 6. Please tell me it gets better! :cool:
