  • Hey I'd like to join too! I became a SAHM in October 2009. Went back to work for three months to avoid paying back maternity leave but have had a busy couple of years prior to this.
DD was born in May 07 and DS was born in April 08. Am really struggling to get orgainsed in the house at the moment but my new years resolution is to be more organised and work smarter in the house in 2010! look forward to getting to know you all and sharing tips!

Tree and decs down, all sorted and tidy again. My Lakeland sale order arrived too, including a Birthday Card Book. I thought I'd try to buy the family birthday cards in advance in three month batches at least so there's no last minute dash to the card shop when I've probably bought the present online anyway :)
  • Wow! Thanks for all joining in! the thread has really taken off! Hi all! and sorry of course SAHD's are welcome!

Well, if I have anything useful to add, I shall. But I often find i'm hopeless at adding anything useful :o

and whats this about bottles of formula? i used to make a batch of 6/8 up with water and powder and put them in the fridge and reheat as needed over 24 hours or what not with my two, is that not 'allowed' nowadays? :o

It's what I used to do to - not too long ago either. But now you either get slated for not making up fresh every time, or for not breast feeding in the first place!!

Anyway, I'm not a SAHM, I work part time (school hours), but it's kind of nice to see that I'm not the only one who struggles to get organised at home! As far as school goes, I've got to be pretty strict with myself and get everything ready the night before. In fact, I've already got one lot of dinner money ready for next Tuesday and in the school bag! There are days when I haven't got the uniforms and so on ready and those mornings are chaos, so it is easier to spend five minutes laying it all out the night before.

I've also got a pad of "planners" which cover about five weeks which I stick on the fridge. DD does swimming, gymnastics and cheerleading over six days a week, so it helps to have it mapped out so I know where I've got to be with her on a certain day! DS is in the midst of his class's "party season" at the moment so it helps to put those down on there too. And any other important bits and pieces!

But as far as housework goes ................. well, it doesn't. Help!!!

    Jxx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

I tried flylady 2 years ago,but all the emails drove me crazy! On the reccomendation of an american friend,I have decided to try motivatedmoms.com. I have dowloaded the 2010 half size chore planner, which cost 8$/£5.06. I like the fact the list can be put on my fridge, and I can delegate some of the chores! There are daily chores and specific tasks to tick off as you go. I really hope this gets me going-starts today so I'll post back!
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

I tried flylady once, and I didn't really get on with it well. Got stuck at the first hurdle of "shine your sink" as my kitchen sink isn't stainless steel, it's some sort of rubberised stuff. LOL And if I didn't get everything done in the day (which happened quite frequently), then I felt disorganised and frustrated and got even less done.

I think rather than doing a lot of the cleaning daily, I'm going to set weekly goals. So I can make a list of what I want to achieve that week, with some that will be routinely every week. That way, on days things are going better and I can get more done around the children, then I can do so, and not feel so badly on days that I just can't seem to get much done. Especially as there are always daily tasks we have to do regardless...

Well, I'll start out for today. So far today I have:

    - started a list of things I want to get done over the next few days, as well as a list of things I need to get done next time I get to the high street
    - washing up, laundry washed and hung up to dry, bottles washed/sterilised/made
    - started sorting out various Christmas presents that were previously stacked
    - am going to sort out the meal plan for the week

Goals for the next two weeks include:
    - copy recipes that I liked from library book so I can return book
    - copy photos from MIL's photo albums so I can return them to her and put photos on disk
    - get Christmas decorations taken down and put away back up in attic
    - get letters and payments sent out to creditors re DMP for this month, along with SOA
    - finish DS3's room (fill holes, paint, carpet remnant down, pictures on walls)
    - finish DS2's room (carpet remnant down, pictures on walls)
(the last two are joint projects with DH)

Filet chicken strips out for tonight's tea - sweet and sour chicken with rice. Once I have completed the menu plan for the week, I will know what I need to take out to defrost for tomorrow night.

Minigoal for today - clean off dining room table and kitchen counter areas (actually putting everything away though, not just relocating it! :rotfl:)
