Selling Your Stuff on Amazon Part 13 - Advice for newbies in first two posts

Thanks very much Petestan, didn't realise the rules had changed (confirmed here that UK bank accounts can be used when selling on amazon.fr).
Having said that, I still can't do it (keep getting an error message at the final hurdle) and I can't see anyone that has actually sucessfully done this on the official amazon seller support boards (even after the rules changed), but then again I guess you don't need to go there if it worked
Aargh, just realised I still can't sell on amazon.fr because you need to have an address in France for returns (in the conditions I linked above) which I don't have.0 -

I remember someone saying something about the error on signup there was a thread about it, when I get time I'll have a search and see if I can find it.
As for your returns well if you are only selling a few and depending upon how expensive they are, you could just give the customer a refund and not bother about getting your book back, it's up to you.
There are a few UK sellers selling on the other sites I suspect most won't have an address for returns in that country.
Edit: Can't find the thread at the moment, I've just translated the page into english and it says you can pay for the cost of the return as an alternative, but to be honest I find the postage to mainland europe is only very slightly more than the UK anyway for most books so if it's a book you want back I would simply offer to pay the return postage.0 -
Thanks to a fellow seller I've found the thread, just a thought maybe your error message is because you are using your present settings you do have to sign up with a new account. Additionally for returns how many do you actually get compared to sales in reality it's hardly any, unless you sell videos like me of course , so you wouldn't have to the pay the return postage that often.

Thanks for that thread. I've seen a few others there having the same problem as me, signing into your amazon.fr (or .de or .com etc) account no problem but being shunted back to .co.uk when you try and sell something. It appears (from others' experience) that the way around that is to make sure you use a different email address for your co.uk and .fr accounts. I don't have enough sales (you're right though, virtually no returns) to make it worthwhile, but it's good to know one could make it work0 -
Hi
Does anybody have any experience of selling on/through alibris? I noticed when looking for a book that waterstones now have a marketplace which comes from those selling on alibris.0 -
Thanks for the o p and others for all the advice on this thread - I have had a great first week selling 9 books but now it seems slow... is it always like this? How many books/dvd's do you think you would need on your inventory to sell 1 a day???0

I was running around 1700 items in my inventory and got to the stage where I could no longer sell the 30 a month I needed to make being a pro seller worthwhile.
In November 2010 I finally gave up the never ending struggle of listing new things every day and checking my prices, and cancelled my pro membership subscription and have so far culled around 500 1p and low price books which I am slowly dumping via freegle. My sales had just completely died, I was listing all the time but so many times Amazon were so heavily discounting the brand new stock that I couldn't compete.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
