Selling Your Stuff on Amazon Part 13 - Advice for newbies in first two posts

I received an email yesterday asking where the item is
It's low-value, and although they can't make a claim with amazon until the last day of the estimated delivery date they can still leave negative feedback, so I might as well refund them and claim the money back from the Royal Mail.
Just a tip I have found when claiming back from Royal Mail, enclose a printed copy of the Amazon refund email to show you have refunded the item you are claiming for. I once forgot to do so and they initially turned down my refund but when I wrote back enclosing the proof they refunded me in full.0 -
Hi everyone, been a while since I last posted here, but I really don't sell much on Amazon these days (although I have just had a selling flurry of 2 books this week, LOL!)
Inspired by this, was going to list some more books, only to find out that many are not listed on Amazon, and I'm obviously not a Pro so can't add them to the cataogue. What I was thinking, is would it be possible to get the Pro membership for just one month and then cancel it, and list lots of stuff during that month that would hopefully make me my £28 or whatever... Hmm, not sure!
Yes you can sign up for just one month for pro membership and then cancel it.0 -

I may think about doing this also. I found the editions I have of books to be missing though I spotted some other sellers list under a different edition and add details in the condition to say it a different edition. Not sure I would be happy doing this - any comments.0 -
I wouldn't advise doing that mobile48 as you have no come back if the buyers do not read the descriptions properly - which they OFTEN don't
New listings under the correct edition are recommendedNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
As it's a low-value CD, I will ask them to contact me next Thursday if the item hasn't arrived, so I'm guessing I will get a email regardless if the items arrives or not asking for a refund.
How long is it these days a seller has to wait before trying to claim from Royal Mail for international items?
Nothing so far so I'm guessing the item has arrived or I will get an A-Z claim issued in a couple weeks time when the "Delivery estimate" time has passed.0 -
Do they apply cross broader within the EU or are they only implemented locally by each member state?
I may have found the answer to my question when browsing for unrelated information [it was quoted in a different context and not related to Amazon]:
Buying from UK traders gives you the benefit of a number of consumer rights. These rights apply across the EU, but it is fair to say it is easier to enforce these rights and resolve disputes with sellers in the UK.0 -
By the way did you notice the new countries we will be able to send stuff to soon, if your settings are on international of course.

Big thanks to everyone who has shared their experiences on this thread! I've just spent the last couple of days reading it through, gradually getting less optomistic as i got to the end. So sorry that people are finding it tough now. I have been doing my sums this weekend and agree it looks very hard to make anything on books. Although, the Fulfilled by Amazon option does look like it has more margin in it. And less hassle. The 'manual' and help files on Amazon are not very clear though. Has anyone here tried FBA for books? Does anyone know whether you have to put the books in the packaging they will be sent out in, or do Amazon do that?0

Hi 20thCcat, haven't tried FBA as not a big enough seller. AFAIK you have to get the books to Amazon, upload listings, also send the books with a barcode sticker on them. I believe you also pay Amazon for storage and fullfilling the order etc as well as the cost of getting them there. There may be other costs I don't know?
[Also as a buyer the stickers are really sticky and annoying as they are hard to get off]
I think that its probably only worth it if the books are in reasonable condition and cost you next to nothing in the first place but thats just my impression. Not sure that anyone on here is FBA but there have been some threads on the Amazon Seller Boards so you could try searching there or ask a question yourself.
Good luck0 -
