Selling Your Stuff on Amazon Part 13 - Advice for newbies in first two posts

A buyer from Marketplace has just emailed to say the CD doesn't match the 'like new' description I gave and is sending the item back from Germany and asking for a full refund. Too bad he didn't email first and I'd have part refunded to save bother.
Can I wait until I get it back before refunding via marketplace? And suppose it never turns up?0 -

You can wait until it is returned before refunding, but just be warned if she goes to Amazon they very often force a refund after a few days. As its a Sunday they probably haven't posted it back yet - you could just give them a refund and tell them to keep it instead. What about asking if they would like to keep it and have a partial refund, they might be happy with thatNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
Hi, firstly, Great thread!
This is just what I've been looking for and thank you to everyone for all the useful tips so far, basically I'm planning to sell on Amazon using their fulfilment programme but haven't got a sellers account yet! My problem is (and I have looked! Sorry if I missed it) the products I sell don't have barcodes, they come straight from my supplier and I sell via eBay, the products do well and all I'm doing now is expanding! I have a friend who says he can make the barcodes via a PDF program and my supplier has no problem printing the barcode on an insert and placing inside the packaging, problem solved! Right? Or is it? Why do companies online charge up to £27.00 for one barcode but my mate thinks its easy to do? Is there a thread on here that helps newbies with the fulfilment program, advice etc. Sorry again if I'm already in the right place but all I've managed to find is info on books.
Thank you in advance!0 -
there used to be a forum somewhere on the web where other FBA amazon sellers could ask questions just about that but I don't know if it's still going or not. Amazon supposedly weren't happy with them for some reason, possibly because a lot of the sellers were having problems getting their stock to amazon at the time.0

Firstly thanks for all the advice on here - its been invaluable. But am I doing something wrong?!! I have had a couple of books listed that I have looked at what the others are selling and then price mine accordingly (after also checking on bookfinder.com and not undercutting anyone), I check my inventory most days to make sure I am still in the right price range - then I sell a book and when I look the ones left have suddenly gone up £10 or more!! Where I am going wrong.... all advice gratefully received0

The other sellers are probably using auto pricing software, so as soon as the lowest priced book, or the lowest in the same condition sells, the software presumably moves their price upwards. Although sometimes people deliberately list a book at a very low price just to get the auto pricers to reduce their price to match and then the person buys the autopriced one and delists their's and then the autopricing software moves the price of the ones left back up.
Having said that not everyone buys the lowest priced book, some people buy from the seller with the highest rating, others buy upon the description in the condition box, so all the ones above and below you may sell before yours. Especially if your a new seller and you haven't had any feedback or not much yet.
Customers are funny but we love them anyway.0 -
I love when sellers put the descriptions of items down as " - "0

How long would you say to wait to a buyer from Japan whom purchased a CD from myself last Wednesday (5th) which was posted on the 6th via Airmail before assuming it's lost in the post and issuing a refund?0

I'd want to wait at least 2 weeks, so middle or end of next week? However it all depends on how long the buyer is willing to wait of courseI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
