Selling Your Stuff on Amazon Part 13 - Advice for newbies in first two posts

Hello haven't tried it myself and am unlikely to - don't have enough stock. There were some threads on the Amazon seller connection about FBA a while back when it started so you could try searching for them there. I seem to remember you have to put stickers on the books, ship them to Amazon and list them via a bulk upload etc.
I noticed some of the penny books have nearly a full page of FBA sellers at the head of the queue0 -
Greetings all,
I am keen to sell a highish value electronic item on Amazon - (don't fancy ebay, better prices than Cex) but it isn't listed. The only one close is some kind of naff gold plated custom version! Assuming someone really did do that...
Do I have to wait until someone adds it? Will Amazon do it if requested? It looks as though there is an official Amazon listing for lower spec versions of this item.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

You can create new listings, in certain categories only and I am not sure if electrical items is one, if your a pro merchant on amazon but at a cost of £28.75 a month although you only have to pay it for 1 month and then cancel it, or alternatively you may find a pro merchant willing to create a new listing for you if you ask nicely.
You may be better asking on the amazon seller discussion boards rather than here though. Sorry I am no longer a pro merchant.0 -
Some categories not even a pro merchant can add to but they still have to supply Amazon with a bar code number and details so that Amazon can add the goods themselves.
Also, some categories are now blocked for sellers unless they are pro merchants and pre registered. Toys for instance are being blocked soon ready for Christmas, so unless you are already signed up and registered you won't be able to do it later.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Harking back to said electronic item -
Would you send?
-item has sold for £200+
-buyer enquired about postage to Germany, but bought regardless, supplying a UK address and different name (friend perhaps?)
-on clarifying that the item was exactly as required, due to poor choice of categories offered by Amazon, the reply was essentially 'oh really? Never mind, send it anyway'
How many alarm bells does she score? How wrong could this go?My TV is broken!

The important bit is whether the item was exactly the same as the Amazon catalogue down to the last details, colour etc. If not then you are vulnerable as if buyer complains Amazon may well insist on a refund even without buyer returning the item as they are very strict about only listing against the catalogue item.
If it was exactly as stated by the Amazon catalogue then you are as a safe as sending it anywhere, although as with all Amazon sales buyer has a ful right to return any item at their whim.
lastly, unless you have a fairly strong turnover of items a single refusal to send can wreck your seller metrics and Amazon may well block you from selling more. They are stricter than ebay about this for smaller sellers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Bah, thank you Soo.
Worst case scenario and an A-Z claim happened... How do Amazon view returned items that have been switched? (again, the worst case I can think of)My TV is broken!

Amazon tend to favour the buyer in all cases although it is sometimes possible to get a sympathetic CS bod in a phone call sometimes.
However if there is any difference at all between the item and the catalogue then there is no right of appeal at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
