Quick question, is there a way to turn "holiday" mode on so you can't sell anything when off on a week's holiday without having to close all the listings and relisting once back?

Also is it just me whom gets the "restricted - pre-approved sellers only" on some books/CDs?

    (ie CD barcode 666017201924)

Hi Kite2010 - to turn on holiday settings, go to your seller account, then under 'settings' click on 'store settings' and at the bottom there's an option 'holiday settings' which you can edit to switch off your listings.

NB at one time Amazon said you should switch off 36 hours before you went away as it could take that long to kick in though I must say I usually found it took much less than that - theres a big sign comes up on your inventory page to tell you listings aren't active if you want to check. Not used holiday settings for ages now so don't know how quickly its taking effect. There have been threads about people having books going pending just before holiday settings are switched on which can cause a problem.

Sorry no idea about your pre - approved question but maybe someone else will know.

The only problem with leaving it late to switch on holiday settings is the problem of pendings. I have had three now in the past 10 days and they will not cancel them off the system until day 7.

Please can someone explain Amazon's postage to me?
I normaly sell on ebay but it's that quiet I thought I give Amazon a try using my old Amazon account. I've listed a few books and some other items.
When you look at the listings, mine are showing up OK but on some the postage shown is higher than the other seller's.
The books I've listed seem to right. It's the other items that I don't understand.
For example I've listed a fancy keyring, there's only one other person selling one, we are both marked as "In stock. Dispatched from United Kingdom" and we both show that we sell internationally.
Mine is showing as £4.53 delivery and the other one says £2.02 delivery.
    Why?
Any ideas what I've got set wrong?
I can't work it out. If it helps I'm using a non-pro account.

This have noticed this too when selling a game - some of the pro sellers must be able to set their own postage so I think the only thing you can do is to adjust your sale price to match the total price.
  • Does dropping your prices help to sell things, as I want to get rid of some books quickly, but don't know if my books are just not selling because no one is looking for them or if they are too expensive.

    Thanks

Check the sales ranking, if it is a good seller the ranking will be low, for quick sales you need the ranking lower than around 50,000 anything higher than that will wait a while for a buyer regardless of price. However, if there are decent copies of your boks at a lower price then yes, you may have to price match to get that sale even for a high ranking book.

I'm already at the lowest price, but things aren't selling. I've only got a few weeks left before I move so I can't just leave them there. Any tips to get them sold?

Bung them on ebay, they will onlyl cost 10p to list as media and you might just get a bite.
