Ebay - Cash on collection should be scrapped!

OP, I am guessing that you are annoyed by the recent decision of the small claims court. Perhaps if you thought about all the ins and outs you would realise that it would not be feasible for eBay to offer protection for cash on collection.
Some seem to have been harsh on the OP. In hindsight the OP should have inspected the item more closely. If someone delivered an item, some people may feel that they could not checked it thoroughly and feel obligated to buy it. Personally I would have inspected it more carefully and paid with Paypal but that does not mean that the OP is an irresponsible person who does not care for the safety of their child.
OP, unfortunately this seems to have been expensive lesson. I am sure that with future purchases you will put yourself first rather that saving the seller their Paypal fees.0 -

I can feel a backlash coming my way too.....i'm bent over and ready for a whipping.....probs quite like it too......
Tbh im rather used to people like that, theres a lot like it on sheffield forum. Nothing is more important than his safety. But they seem to ingore the fact that the pram seemed fine when it had nothing in it and faults were only noticible when their was a bit of weight.
The seller brought it to me, she seemed really friendly, i never thought of checking under the carseat cover, thought the only problem with the car seat was hygiene. I'll nto crack, the onyl thing they'l make me do is just turn sarcastic.£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -

The decision did annoy me, especially as through the whole thing the judge was pleasent to the seller but rude to me.£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -
Apologise? For what exactly? For pointing out what we can all see?Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0

Surely you didn't need a baby inside the pram to notice that the brakes didn't work and the wheels didn't spin?Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0

You'd be surprised, i was on a bus when i found the brakes were faulty, they dont always stay on.£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -

But the problem with the car seat was actually under the covers and underneath it and it was set in the base. But i was just a bit excited to be getting the pram i wanted to actually think someone would knowingly sell me something in quite bad condition. Ive pushed a pram thats new, and it didnt rattle or tilt as much as this one, personally if i was the seller i would have binned it.
I never realised in posting this thread i would have gotten rude comments.
I don't think people are being rude - if you don't know ebays rules, you can't blame them and the seller for your ignorance. Its the same as buying something out of the small ads in the paper. Better to give things a good road test before buying.0 -
I'm sorry for what happened OP, I agree, COC can potentially be difficult for both buyers and sellers. I hope you've managed to find better travel gear for your baby and that you can follow up the judgement to understand what happened. As for some of the comments on this thread, they're beyond inappropriate and smack of internet point scoring. What a shame.0

Hi Hunnybunny,
Can you tell us was it only the brakes that were at fault with the pram? and what exactly was the problem with the carseat? Me and my husband own a baby shop so may be able to advise.0
