To be entirely honest he didn't make it clear why, but proof of payment wasn't to do with it. The letter i got form court said no part had attended, so i never actually got a better reason, said the problems with the purchase were to be expected, but to me if i buy smething described as in 'excellent condition' and recieved it and later on find out the faults with it, i think i deserve my money back.
The problems were either hidden or only noticed when product was in use.£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -
can you tell us what the product was, it had to be something very special for the fault to be hidden or only noticed when in useEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Car seat and pushchair.
I think this discussion is going towards the wrong thing, it be coming about my purchase rather than the COC service. I really do think it should be scrapped.£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -
the COC and the purchase go together, you decided to pay cash on collection when you could have paid via paypal.
A car seat and push chair......pretty simple to check if everything works as it should.
Personally if i was the seller i would prefer you paid cash on collection so you could have the chance to inspect and make sure you were happy with it.
As a buyer i would also paid cash on collection to make sure i was happy with it and as it was going to be used by child i would have given it a good going over.
But TBH unless the frame totally disintergrated when it got wet i cant see what problem would have occured that you shouldnt have spotted when you collected itEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

But you choose to use cash on collection even though ebay advise against it. Ebay are not Omnipresent and don't have enough staff to physically throw themselves in front of a buyer tempted to pay in cash on collection. Do you honestly want to live in a nanny state where someone will physically restrain you if you go against good advice?
Personally if I collect something I am happy to pay in cash as sellers will often give a little discount, but if it was something I wasn't sure about I may think twice about buying anyway. A car seat and pushachair though , diffiicult to see how a fault wasn't spotted. If you aren't sure about checking over second hand things then it might be best and more cost effective to buy from a shop in future.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. No the pram seemed fine till i set baby in it, i noticed it was wonky, the brakes didnt stay on (this found out whilst using the pram outside), the wheels didnt always spin, but tbh i didnt actually run it around when i was inspecting it, would have felt a bit daft. But the problem with the car seat was actually under the covers and underneath it and it was set in the base. But i was just a bit excited to be getting the pram i wanted to actually think someone would knowingly sell me something in quite bad condition. Ive pushed a pram thats new, and it didnt rattle or tilt as much as this one, personally if i was the seller i would have binned it.
I never realised in posting this thread i would have gotten rude comments.£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -

I thought i was doing a good thing for the seller by not using payal so no money was taken out of the price. Guess that'll teach me. I didn't actually know ebay advised against it, but still if its not good for the buyer why allow it?
no discount was given, seller delivered so asked for more to cover petrol, i found this fair.£10,000 in 2010 = £00 -

I don't think people are being rude. You must see though how difficult it is for us to see your point of view in that you used a method of payment by your own free will which ebay advise against yet you hold ebay somehow at fault for not physically restraining you from going to the bank and drawing out the money.
They cannot ban cash on collection as they cannot police the several thousand tranasations that occur every day, how would you expect them to do that? Instead they say that buyers have a 100% right to use paypal and warn that if they choose not to use paypal then they will not be covered for problems arising because they ignored ebay advice. You choose to use cash, no one forced you to.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. 'Now switch your computer off, pack it up in a nice big box, take it to a charity shop, and never consider buying another one again. '
'So, this'll be another wind-up thread, then  The sooner the kids are back at school, the better.'
Those to me are rude.
'not physically restraining you from going to the bank and drawing out the money.'
I never said this, simply stated that if buyers are not protected, why allow this method of payment? Never did i expect this kind of response from these boards.
You're clearly misunderstanding. I am not putting ebay at fault for MY decision to use COC. I have always used paypal before. I had originally planned on using paypal for this transaction but wanted to inspect first, so didnt want to pay, see the item and not like it and then have to try get my money back. Which judging by the attitude of the seller would have been a struggle. The seller delivered the item to me, so i felt i had to pay as i already had the item and thought she might refuse to leave it with me without me handing over her money.£10,000 in 2010 = £00
