Ebay - Cash on collection should be scrapped!

I stopped using ebay a few months ago as I was ripped off of £100 and as seller requested paid cash on collection. Now when i tried to get a refund through ebay they said they could not help me as COC isn't protected and to use small claims...Did this, judge was an !!!!, case dismissed.
But i'm thinking that it's unfair for them to allow payment to be made through a way that is not protected and should either be scrapped, or protected.
I hope that made sense :S
Has anyone else been ripped off this way?

Surely cash on collection you saw the item so decided then if it was worth paying for. So it was sold as seen. You could have paid via paypal as all sellers have to accept it so it was your choice to pay that way (except in ebay motors) so you didnt have to pay cash0

Ebay do not sanction cash on collection and actually warn against it. Unless item was in the motor vehicle category you could have insisted on using paypal anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. have to agree you collected the item you should have inspected it at the time, if they are localish i would always rather COC espcially if they have low feedback atleast that way i know what im getting and i have the oppourtunity to examine it before walking away.
This thread reminds me of anotherold thread where the seller wouldnt accept cash as a form of payment,.....seriouslyEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Probbaly wont hear from OP again. Never do...0

it amazes me that people beleive ebay will protect a cash payment anyway, can you prove you paid the cash???
I suspect the item was a fake but sold as genuine or antique but without the info its hard to gaugeEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
So, this'll be another wind-up thread, then  The sooner the kids are back at school, the better.
Seriously, how did you expect a refund after paying cash. You can't prove you paid, probably why you got thrown out of court.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

Perfect sense....
Now switch your computer off, pack it up in a nice big box, take it to a charity shop, and never consider buying another one again.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
The item had problems that weren't visible on first inspection. I wish i had used paypal, thought it would be easier for the seller if i gave cash so none was taken out of her money by paypal.£10,000 in 2010 = £00
