    The watch strap looks great!

I went to an amazing patchwork and quilting shop today called poppy patch spent a fortune but a lot was on fabric for a quilt for my grandma. I will blog about the shop and the fabric later this week. It was very refreshing though to go in a fabric shop and be served by polite, friendly people!

Shame we it is like 4 hours away from where live. I think we will be visiting OH parents more often ;)

Is there still a market in Maidstone? Canterbury just has stalls in the main street but no fabric or haberdashery. What day is Lewisham market?

The lady said she is there everyday except Sunday. The rest of the market is on every day, its in the main town outside the shopping centre. There is a nice fabric shop there opposite the centre called Reams or something similar, the stall was outside the fabric shop.

Maidstone market is on Tuesdays I think, I havent been there for years as its hard to park near by. I would love to go again, they had some nice haberdashery stalls, cant remember if they have any fabric stalls or shops apart from C & H and they are expensive.

I finished making the shirt, here is a photo of it.

There is a bigger picture on my blog but as the fabric is so patterned it is hard to make out the collar and everything.

I spent the day in my sewing room. I cut out various bags, purses and wallets, using the mix and match of the materials that I had at the top of my pile. I managed to cut out 12 today, and had 3 from yesterday.
I then spent the afternoon sewing the trim to the towels, 2 blue, and 3 white, and then I also made up 3 childrens aprons out of an old duvet cover, that has patches that glow in the dark. Its aimed at little boys, as its nearly always girly stuff I tend to make.
I am a bit tired now, so unless I get a second wind, I will not be sewing anymore today.
Tomorrow the car is off to the garage yet again. (thats 3 weeks in a row), so my childcare is in place for that, and will mean any other sewing will need to be done in the night.

Well I made my first tote bag yesterday :) Will try and get a picture up later when small ones have gone to bed. I'm really pleased with it. I didn't follow a set pattern, just cut my own sizes, used two different patterns of material and even did a lining! Next time I need to make sure the handles are in deeper as one was not quite in the lining at one corner so had to be hand sewn so it didn't come out. I used material bought at the market last week (£12 per metre!!! Will teach me to ask the price next time before I ask for the material!), and the lining was made from a shirt I had which I don't wear anymore. I'm hoping to cut another and maybe get to sew it tonight once kids are in bed - but usually I don't feel like doing anything at that time of night - it's my relax and watch telly time! :)

    The shirt looks great!

Pink Pig when I am doing bag handles in between outer and lining I always leave an inch as a general rule it seems to work and then if you like you can add a boxstitch on the outside to make the handles even stronger :)

Wow, that's fantastic! How did you learn to do so much in so little time? I have been sewing for a few years but haven't really left the 'cushion cover' stage....:o

Would love to hear more from you! :D

Hi Annie-c! i went along to a short course which was for 3 hours one evening a week for 5 weeks. The girl who ran the course was great, it was really informal and we all chose a project to work on during the course- much better than a formal lesson with everyone doing the same thing. I made my first dress mainly in that first run of classes but finished it off when i joined the course again to gain more confidence.
I think that once you have someone explain patterns to you and you lose the fear of doing it wrong, and take your time, it is surprisingly easy! you should go for it! Vogue do a set of patterns called 'very easy vogue' which are a good point to start on because they are fairly simple but still lovely patterns.
if you decide to go for it feel free to give me a shout for any particular tips :)
i will post some piccies of some of my finished dresses when i get chance- hopefully i will have finished my 1950s sundress this weekend as it's just awaiting a slight adjustment and zip and hem.
    Car Boot Queen!!

Clothes Golden Rule: Never pay full price unless it is an utter bargain in the first place!
Sales, boots, charity shops, ebay- why would anyone ever pay full price for anything??!
